that necas trade is awful, and if he was going to take that contract it would have been signed already.

How is that horrible? Hurricanes fans are getting a little delusional about what the return for Necas is going to be. You get a goalie better than Andersen and a few years younger and a good young wing that should slot into a middle 6 role

lol this isn’t a good return. A year of Ullmark and a guy who’s not getting in the lineup over any of our nhl ready prospects. No thx.

Ullmark probably signs an extension and Merkulov would become one of your top 2-3 NHL ready prospects. He was 5th in the AHL in scoring in 67 games

Canes aren’t going to want to tie up 6M in Ullmark for the likely extension he wants.

He wouldn’t - he’s not jumping over Nikishin morrow FUS Nadeau or Blake right off the bat. I’m sure he’s a good prospect in your bare system but he’s not jumping our top guys. No thx on the deal.

He’s not jumping all those guys? So all 5 of those guys are making the NHL next year? Merkulov played a few games in the NHL last year. None of those guys you mentioned even played in the AHL last year and you think they’re jumping an NHL ready prospect?

No, all of those guys won’t be in the lineup next year bc there’s not room for them all next year. He wouldn’t jump any of them though, sorry to break it to ya.

They didn’t all play ahl bc the canes didn’t have an ahl affiliate last year lol. Blake morrow nadeau all played nhl games too. Nikishin is dominating in the KHL. Not as good of an argument as you thought it would be.

I just think Canes fans think they’re trading away a superstar when in reality its just a solid top 6 guy. He’s 5 seasons in and only averages 48 pts a year

Some do. I don’t think they’ll get a massive haul for him but seems like there’s a ton of interest and despite ppl thinking canes have no leverage and have to trade him now, that’s just not the case.

I think they’ll do a Necas + package to get an upgrade versus trading Necas for a package.
