Pesce will ask for more, especially if he's going to Canada

Canes pass. They'd just extend Pesce, especially at that price.

I feel like you may be deluding yourself with the Necas and Pesce contract, unfortunately...

I agree any trade involving one or both these players is likely to be more complicated. Curious what you think about the Canes defense in general. As an outsider it seems like a powerplay defenseman might be needed after next season (Brent Burns retires? Do Canes fans like Deangelo?). Pesce contract is too low, I'm living in a fantasy world which is why I don't work for the Canucks.

Scott Morrow exists, so no. The biggest issue long term is still the center spot. There might be a year or two of pain on the back end until Nikishin, Heimosalmi, Perevalov, Nystrom, and company get across, but the pipeline is so loaded on the back end there's no real fear about that. The only place, even in the pipeline, that's really dry is C. Ryan Suzuki might still be something, if he can stay healthy, but outside of that, there's really not a lot. It's why I'm 99% certain Carolina are only going to trade him for someone that offers control long term at the center position. Whether that be someone like Poitras or Norris is different, one is way more of a risk and the other is really young, but that's the kind of player I'm expecting to see come the other way for Necas
