Bruins retool

Created by: raowss35
Team: 2024-25 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2024
Published: May 17, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Load up on defensive depth in case Lohrei needs more time or Wotherspoon regresses.

Sign Brossoit or a similar veteran backup in case Bussi is not ready. Lindholm is an obvious signing, the only question mark is term as bruins will have the cap space. Joshua is a player the bruins should seriously look at. He has good size and should offer the bottom 6 a bit more flexibility, just not sure of the asking price.
Ullmark trade is self explanatory, I don’t think he fetches a first, especially not from NJD. I feel Holtz + a 3rd is reasonable
Lauko is the odd one out in this roster so I figured he’d be best off being traded than lost to waivers. The return is arbitrary at this point.

Reasonable NJ deal. Hatakka was a really nice surprise addition to Meier deal…and probably candidate for 7D here. Good defensively, plays simple game, few mistakes.

I’d let him compete with bahl for 7D for sure. I feel like teams may also let him slip through the waiver cracks yknow?

Realistic across the board. I do think that getting Coyle back down onto the 3rd line is going to do wonders for our depth scoring. That 2nd line is going to get bullied though, too small, and looking at what other teams are throwing out there, I'm not sure it'll survive playoff hockey. Geekie on the 4th line is a waste so I see them moving him before letting him languish down there. Brazeau's gotta find a way in that lineup, and Joshua may get more but you've left plenty of cap.

Overall: it's a better team, but not better enough.

I’d probably swap Coyle and Poitras and Geekie and Heinen. Not sure if Heinen gets THAT much and not sure Joshua leaves the Canucks but all in all, nice job 👍🏽
