tbh I’m not sure Ottawa should be in the business of paying Hronek what he wants, but that price is perfectly reasonable

no, chychrun would be moved in a different deal by ottawa and then they would be replacing him with hronek

I like Hronek well enough, but I can't imagine paying his asking price. No way you can pay him Sanderson money

Canucks would need about a chychrun level add to consider this type of deal

Just curious why Vancouver wouldn’t just want to keep him

basically imo he is a luxury on vancouver. if the canucks sign hronek it will gut their forward depth. better to trade him for assets and sign some one like tanev instead so they can retain lindholm

I personally don’t see why Lindholm signs in Vancouver when he can go to playoff teams with cap room and be their number 1 center. Hes played better in the playoffs, but his long term future doesn’t seem like Vancouver.

That doesn’t mean that his salary can’t be distributed to a forward

its been reported canucks will try to re-sign lindholm. the contract i have given him here is $52 million. a comparable contract in free agency is 7.42 million aav over 7 years. i think he will have a hard time garnering that type of a contract

He’ll be the number 1 center in free agency. My guess is Boston pays a premium and that opportunity for him is simply better. I’m expecting 7 years, ~7.5m AAV or maybe 5 years, 8.5M AAV

Nashville potentially could as well.

My guess is a proven spot at center is going to be valued

I mean they are similar value players. I'd give the edge to Sergachev slightly in terms of direct influence on a game but Hronek plays the more premium position.

But ultimately why on earth would the Canucks move Hronek for futures. And pitiful futures at that? significantly less that what they paid for him a yr ago.

hes worth less now because he has to be re-signed. cancusk got him on a sweet heart deal for a year.

they trade him for futures so that they have the cap space to re-sign lindholm, joshua, and zadorov

I don't think the one yr of sweetheart deal was the main selling feature. Not to mention he showed out in a big way this regular season. That said he could be on the trade block sure but not for a late 1st in a weak draft. We gave up a mid 1st in an extremely strong draft and a 2nd in that same draft. I don't think we'd just take like half the value back a yr later after he has a career year no less.

I wouldn't sign Lindholm unless he wants to get paid like the 3rd liner he is. Which he wont so he can go somewhere else for 7mil +
