Draft Pick Slot Value as my Source
https://soundofhockey.com/2022/06/06/examining-the-value-of-nhl-draft-picks/

Mrazek was $3.8M for 2 years. The cost was #38 to #25...and I think you guys like Minten, no? So, no regrets I'm assuming? ~80 points in draft value per source above.
https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/609500

Kamps/Reaves - $3.75M for 2+ years. Cost to move up to #23 could be similar, but we'll make it just slightly better than before, but silghtly. #34 would mean ~77 points in draft value.

I don't have a comp for the NYI trade. It's a 2nd round pick and 50 points in draft capital to move up in the 1st. It's also $24M in cap in total. They're both serviceable players, but neither worth what they're paid for.

Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Kämpf, David
  2. Reaves, Ryan
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Moving from #34 to #23 is 77 points in Draft Value.
Mrazek was 80 points in Draft Value. Very similar trade, BUT the Hawks need to eat another year a Kampf and the trade is slightly better to TOR too.
2.
CHI
  1. Lee, Anders
  2. Pageau, Jean-Gabriel
  3. 2024 1st round pick (NYI)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (NYI)
NYI
  1. Phillips, Isaak [RFA Rights]
  2. Raddysh, Taylor [RFA Rights]
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Hawks move up from #23 to #18 and we get a 2nd, but the NYI still have a 1st round pick this year...get cap space, and get a few young guys for their NHL roster or Phillips will probably got back/forth between the AHL/NHL.

Isles say yes. I think this is more than fair.

Frankly, I'd rather keep Reaves and Kampf and trade down if necessary to get more prospects

Reaves is, kind of, helping the culture and Kampf is needed bc without him, their PK is awful

I've posted this a few times and I get mixed feedback. Some TOR fans saying they're happy to get rid of Kampf because Dewar can "easily" replace him for cheaper value. 4th line PKers can also be found as UFAs for less money. I agree with you that Kampf is a good PKer. Is he worth $2.5M? I think I can add one of our PKers if that helps at all?

Yeah... But when your PK goes roughly 80% in the playoffs... IMO, the solution isn't to get rid of your best player on that PK... And the Dewar-Kampf-Reves/Gregor line was far from the problem IMO in the playoffs

We're not moving off of Reavo, way too integral for this locker room. He will play a more prominent role when we hire a real coach

I like the Toronto trade however, I think the Hawks are giving up too much on the Islander trade considering how much they are absorbing in cap hits.

I'd be fine with both these trades. 3 top 20 picks is a win for the Hawks. And AMEN to the Jones-Marner ceasefire!

My thing though is that those (2) guys still have a purpose.
JGP - He's a 3rd line center (forget where I have him above...I see that 2nd/3rd line swapping a bunch) He's 66% DZone starts and 55.4% faceoffs 200 hits and 7 time Selke nominee. You don't want the young guys to develop that kind of grit??? I think he'd be a tremendous mentor.
Anders Lee - He's their captain and yeah his ice time has been reduced, but he could score 25-30 goals for us and 2nd leading scorer in the playoffs this past year.

I understand and agree with the cap...AND...if KD can get more. Great. I just think having (3) top 20 picks this year while getting TRUE veterans to help the young guys would be a really smart thing for player development.
