Description
Jets have alot of wasted cap. Dump guys like iafallo and namestnikov. Even niederreiter makes too much. He is just actually moderately useful.
I think lambert has earned a spot.
Moving ehlers is tough, but kulich has shown great production for his age in the ahl. I made this move on my Buffalo acgm so I did here also.

What about defense? Moving Schmidt or Pionk or both would probably need to be for other D. Unless going after a cheaper, more sturdy D in free agency but there isnt really.
They collapsed hard in the postseason but they were solid and consistent all year long. Fewest goals allowed.

This is a bit of a re-tooling but if they free some cap, bring some youngsters along (in this case: Kulich & Lambert) and otherwise change nothing, I don't think they get any worse (maybe not 110 points) but I think they're still a playoff team and getting youngsters time on a good team will bridge the gap of having to tear down and rebuild. Gotta manage cap right now tho and thats the best way.

No chance Brossoit re-signs. massive overpay on Demelo. Stanley s not getting $1.5. Namestnikov is a very useful player at $2mil. Id rather keep Iafallo then give him up for a 6th rd pick.
This deal does not get you Ehlers. Jets biggest need is on the blueline.
You didn't adjust the salary cap for this post so there would be an additional $4.3~million for Jets to play with.
Ville Heinola is likely in this top 6 next season also.

Brossoit isn't a starter. Winnipeg pays more than the open market cause... Winnipeg. Stanley may not get 1.5. Namestnikov is a dime a dozen when you have youngsters capable of producing similarly. Iafallo is useless for 4M and jets have plenty of cap questions.
Which brings up ehlers. Lose Connor next year then?

Hawks should have opportunities to make more impactful additions than Iafallo. Another 3rd liner isn't really a need.

lol, Brossoit will move on to a spot he has a chance at a starter role (NJ, L.A, etc.) or at least a1A,1B. Namestnikov is awesome and he likes it in Winnipeg. This should not be undervalued, he's a fan favorite. Iafallo is a solid player, yea a bit over paid but...He's a good fit, contributes to the "best defensive team". I wouldnt give him away. Maybe a third. The only cap questions are really Schmidt and Pionk. One will likely be gone, my bet is Pionk. Ehlers could very possibly be traded but it will be for a top 4 defensemen. Why would we lose KFC next year?
Lambert will get a shot, perhaps Chibrikov and / or Lucius at some point but... My guess is the start the season in the AHL.
Jets are actually in a great spot with the cap going forward. Wheeler buy out done after this season, Schmidt, Iafallo will both be done and then its Rutger time with Lambert and at least 2 or 3 other ELC's and the cap will go up again.

Not for one year of Ehlers when Kulich is capable of being Ehlers and under control for years to come. Ehlers also has a M-NTC
