So then why was the grittiest leaf team in years the worst? How come they beat up on a not very good boston team and yet still couldnt win a series?
Oh right, because grit is hilariously over rated by people who think max domi is anything but a middle 6 passenger winger who doesnt do anything at an above average level but pass. "Playoff beast" they call him while he takes tons of stupid penalties, passes on open net shots and misses more defensive assignments than he has brain cells left.
The only thing proven time and time again by this leafs team is that no matter what the issue, people who get all their hockey ideas from nick kypreos will default to grit and toughness

"The worst"??

That 2020 team was WAY worse, couldn't score a goal in TWO games out of FIVE against COLUMBUS of all teams. Or that 2021 team that blew a 3-1 series lead when they had perfect control of the series and the Habs had 0 life whatsoever. The Leafs couldn't score this year. 12 goals in 7 games. Why couldn't they score? Because they won't get into the dirty areas. And as long as they don't do it enough, they're not gonna win. It's that simple.

Look at the Panarin OT goal 2 days ago. He's not the type of player we typically associate with scoring that type of goal. And yet he did. And keeps doing it, these playoffs.

No, this was a worse team, that team played worse. See how that works?
You know why the leafs couldnt score this year? Because their power play was one set play that didnt work that they tried every single time, and because Matthews was sick and injured for half the series and nylander missed games and marners leg was 2 weeks into a month long recovery.
No magic grit dust missing, because if that was the case then why didn't your playoff beasts muscle through and score more than 1 goal in game 7? Oh right, its because they are hilariously flawed players that people pretend are amazing because they think grit matters over all

"The team played worse"??

You're straight up blind mate.

In 2020 they didn't have life for the equivalent of 2 games and a half out of 5, in 2019 they didn't show up in games 6 and 7, in 2021 they had no pushback in games 5, 6 and 7 while this year they were in it for the majority of the series.

You literally don't know what the heck you're talking about if you think this was their worst playoff performance ever. And earlier I didn't even mention last year against FLA, where they were straight up embarassed. And no, injuries didn't cost them the series lmao

Weve already established that you cant evaluate a game past grit, so yeah, that team playes some of the worst hockey the leafs have played since the lock out.
If you didn't see that, well i guess you are clearly blind, mate

And again, you cant just contribute everything you dont like to lack of grit. This team didnt show up in games either, must be grit, gotta get rid of soft players like domi, bertuzzi and edmundson.
Especially when domi's soft play led to that marchand game winner, such a soft player. Leafs didnt even put up a fight until playoff beast nylander showed up

Of this discussion's over.

First of all you've made two spelling mistakes, it's not "Weve" it's "We've" and it's not "cant" it's "can't", and second it's hilarious that you say I "can't evaluate a game past grit" because it shows you have 0 self awareness, as you can't evaluate a team past skills and playing in periphery. If the Stanley Cup were awarded to the team that plays the best in periphery, the Leafs would win it almost every year. The SC isn't awarded to that kind of team though, it's awarded to the most determined team(scoring playoff type goals is a "symptom" of determination*), which the Leafs aren't.

*Keefe told them 3 freaking years ago they hadn't been scoring enough playoff type goals lmao. Useless Joe Thornton basically told him to f off because they were first in Canada and the team clearly hasn't learned its lesson since then.

yeah, when you start on spelling and grammar, especially comas you've already lost, especially when you've spent the entire time trying to personally insult the other party.
You got nothing, we know this. I've asked you several times why this team, this gritty playoff beast filled team by your own description couldnt muster a win over a Boston team that they were tougher and gritter than. Why these playoff beasts couldnt muster a single goal or anything but three secondary assists between em over the last 4 games of the series despite getting hilariously favourable zone starts and power play time?
Because grit, especially when attached to not very good players is like the 10th most important thing a player needs.
But sure! I bet these players will suddenly become more gritty and more useful if you add more gritty players, not like the leafs have lieterally added these guys every single year since this core was together.
So, yeah, it's very very obvious you cannot understand anything about hockey without putting on your toughness glasses. Hell, I bet you think every good thing that happens to you in life is because of grit. Found a quarter on the ground? Obviously it's because you were so gritty in the office. Guy cuts you off in traffic? Clearly you weren't gritty enough.
