My opinion, trading him is a mistake. This is a rough guess too, could be possible Marner doesn't even select these teams as suiters to waive his NMC for. In all honesty, these returns would be BEST CASE scenario in a Marner trade for Toronto going into next year
No way the leafs retain 50% on marner. They need that cap space to further upgrade the roster after moving him
and if they dont retain and eat it for next year, expect a 2nd or 3rd rounder with nothing else. Marners NMC and the fact the leafs are the ones starting the converstaions about his trade means other teams have all the leverage. Good luck finding a team he is willing to go to, that would give up anything more than a bag of pucks for a guy who hasnt had success in the playoffs being paid 11 mill.

Sir, you are like a pitcher of cool water in a Leafs fan AGM desert. Can we just make you president of Toronto?

Most leafs fan expect marner to be traded for McDavid half retained and a first. They dont understand hockey and it saddens me. Just trying to be realistic. Go leafs go
Canes take that and run, assuming that Marner would be 1) willing to go to the Canes, and 2) be willing to sign an extension.
yeah, but I dont think hes looking to take a paycut on his next deal, and the canes aren't paying him 12 mil on his next contract, so what's the point? Leafs just totally screwed up their cap and the players expectations.
