Unless someone is taking PLD's contract, the Kings can't do that.

LA says no way...Kempe is better and anyway they need guys who can score in the playoffs or at least play playoff hockey.

Kings can't afford that. Do the math. Kings would have less than $26.5 million in cap space without Kempe and have to re-sign Quinton Byfield and fill nine other roster slots. At the very least, Marner ($11.5 million), Liljegren ($2 million) and Robertson ($1 million) use up $15 million of that $26.5 million, which leaves very little for Byfield and two goalies, not to mention the other four players.

Marner to Los Angeles doesn't work mathematically unless you subtract players the Kings simply aren't going to trade you.
