That might be enough to move Holl to another team. Hawks will want a 2nd.

as said the sens probably accept, Chychrun cannot play the right side though. Hes not good enough making plays on his backhand

Devils decline. Maatta isn't good enough for a top 4 spot, and the Devils shouldn't be spending $3m on a 3rd line D behind Siegs and Luke. Rather have a cheaper Bahl there and spend that money elsewhere.

We see a decent young 3rd line player, mid teens pick this year, and a 2nd in a good draft class friend. Solid value, won't get much better.

This is a genuine question so I don't want this to come off as me be aggressive or negative to you. I just want to know your thoughts on why the hawks are different than other bottom teams in terms of taking a cap dump with compensation.

I think this always depends on what teams are rebuilding and how many are willing to spend money while losing. Also, how many teams Holl waives to go to hurts the leverage DET has.

How has Määttä been? We could use another veteran dman, whether he plays at 3LD or as 7th dman probably depends on how Bahl looks. The $3m cap hit would probably be the obstacle.

Since the Sens are also loaded on C, wouldn't it be better to replace Veleno for Berggren?

Happy to reply! Since Kyle from Chicago became the Hawks GM, they have made 5 trades to take on a "bad" contract. One of them was Taylor Hall, a top 6 level winger the Hawks wanted to play w/ Bedard. In that deal, the Hawks gave up 2 AHL D men. In the other 4 trades, the Hawks got at least a 2nd. In addition, the Hawks are now moving into phase 2 of their rebuild, where they want to improve their roster and their results in the standings. So the Hawks will likely be more selective in taking on "bad" contracts. They likely don't make any such trades that don't get them at least a 2nd from now on.

That makes a lot of sense. I wasn't very familiar with the Hawks recent trading history but i think you're right in the sense that Kyle would not accept less than what he has gotten in the past. Thanks for the info!!

You're definitely right, although I could see holl being more likely to waive his NTC simply to get ice time somewhere else.

Maatta is a great 3LD, very steady and pairs well with someone who has more offensive production. He does exactly what you need him to do, no more, no less.
