Another kick at the can

Team: 2024-25 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 2, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not saying any of this should or shouldn't happen, but a possible realistic offseason for the Bruins

Ullmark trade seems inevitable with Bussi as the backup, figured a protected 1st could be about accurate value wise, could be slightly more or less

Giving Swayman the bag is an obvious decision imo

Not huge on Lindholm, but would be surprised if Sweeney and co. didnt agressively pursue him July 1st

Duhaime for some much needed grit in bottom 6, Kulikov to help bottom pairings as Lohrei continues to develop, Toffoli for middle 6 RW as Lysell probably isnt ready for an elevated role in the bigs

I think lindholm lost his shot at 8 mill.
He hasn’t lost his defence but everyone knows offence is what pays so I’d say he’s more around the 7 mill mark.

Toffoli isn’t going to sign for that. The devils tried to extend him and he wouldn’t take a three year contract. He probably needs at least $5M per season and he’s targeting at least 5 years. I don’t know if he’s gonna get that, but he probably turned down the contract you gave him in New Jersey.

Honestly, based on him only attracting a 2nd and 3rd at the deadline, I don't think he will be sought after enough anyone gives him 5 years. He will probably take 3yrs at a rate just good enough as long as he's happy where he goes. He wouldn't take this from teams like CBJ, BUF, or WPG I don't think.

His league leading .652 GSaX/60 over the past two years suggests otherwise

dont mater if he won the vezina 10 years in a row and has the best numbers of any G in history, NO G in the NHL is worth a top 25 pick end of story.

Top 25 picks average out to AHL solid starter or good 3rd liner. Please don’t confuse this with the NFL or the NBA. Late first round picks are flyers.

I heard this crap last year. Basic premise, most of the fans of teams that failed that said it have kind of shut up about it. It’s feasible to get a low cost option that emerges at any position. There is a risk and the level of arrogance of teams this year with regards to the goalie position has cost them badly

Not a fan of signing him in general, either at 8m or 7m, but FAs typically get overpaid come July 1st

7m is definitely more reasonable tho

Ya I realized shortly after that 4.2 was probably low-balling it. Figured hes on the wrong side of 30 and just had not the greatest playoff series. Could easily tack on another million or so, which is why I left 2m in cap to spare

I’d be willing to give him a chance since he will play 1st line with pasta and we will see if he still has offensive skills.

Calgary he didn’t have much around him to truly excel and in Vancouver they played him in a more defensive/ physical role on that 3rd line with Joshua/Garland.

But he has been arguably one of canucks best players in this Nashville series. His style of play has translated better then pettersons
