Yea he was a good player but the last 2 years have not been great! At this point he has negative value and at 31 it doesn’t look good! Think at full price no one touches him unless he rebounds next year.

make it two firsts. no one is taking a 6x6 gamble on couturier for a second.

full retention, or he stays a flyer.

That’s crazy I figured Philly should pass that deal favors Montreal way more and almost seems like a joke. If you pass sharks wouldn’t Johansson is 1 year at 4 mil not hard to swallow vs Anderson deal and Konecky is a 30 goal scorer vs a young (albeit promising) LD and you guys have a pretty stacked young D core.

I don’t know Karlsson rebound turned him from a multiple 1st and high retention to a small retention a top 6 C and a 1st in return. Crazier things happen

It did but not much and Hertl got the sharks a 1st and a decent former 1st round pick.

1. well, there was retention in that deal. so what's your point?
2. Karlsson rebounded to the tune of a 100 point season, and a norris. if couturier pops 50 goals, 140 points, and wins the hart, we can have that discussion.

Yeah but you said no one would even take couturier at 6 mill lol. 6 mill would have retention

Think 30 goal 70 point season would get a few teams interested with 1-1.5 mil retained

okay? what's your point? i said it would take retention, that deal took retention.

Also - Hertl is younger, and has been both better and healthier. there is no comparison to be made between these two players. if hertl required retention, couturier will require full retention.

i followed up with that, yes. and i stand by it. have you seen him? have you seen his injuries? have you seen his age? the last time he had a halfway decent season was the covid year.

Team only get 2 1sts on salaries like this when playes are not service-able. Ie Jack Campbell. Coots is certainly still a good 2C/ great 3C player

go ahead and find me an example of a team taking on 6x6 for a player with his production, age, and injury history without major compensation

Thats like saying the sharks can trade will smith because they have thomas Bordeleau. They play the same position but they arent the same player.

Guhle is already playing top pairing minutes putting up good defensive metrics in them. He is also comfortable on both sides.

He is the untouchable of the group especially not for a 5'10 27 year old winger

For you or your team maybe, I’m generalizing here tbh. Also Karlsson and Hertl we’re also traded during the cap Crunch era, this trade would be with the first significant Cap increase in a while, making it less necessary for retention. Truth be told there is no right or wrong answer until something happens.
