Perfetti is definitely better than Fabbri lol, I wouldn't argue you on that. But he hasn't been able to crack the lineup and Winnipeg is in win now mode. I think they benefit from gaining a cheap bottom 6 point producer who plays some gritty hockey and an extra 1st to use as a trade chip or just to keep.

Hasn't been able to crack the lineup? He played 71 games in the top 6 of a his team.

Teams just don't trade young players coming off a season where they progressed quite a bit for older, low end depth.

Sorry shoulda chosen my words wiser, can't crack the lineup in the playoffs. From my viewpoint, the jets are incredibly skilled in their top 6 and I just don't see Perfetti knocking any of those guys out of their roles anytime soon, especially if toffoli re-signs, and I don't really like the thought of Perfetti's play in the bottom 6. Fabbri at 50% retained is cheap and produces extremely well in the role, plus the 1st round pick obviously for value.

It just does nothing for Winnipeg. If they are moving Perfetti it would need to be a hockey trade for a similarly aged and talented player that fills a need for the Jets. Such as a RHD or 2C.

I do think there is a trade to be made but this isn't it.

Berggren has to be I'm and I'm assuming one other guy that helps Winnipeg today.

1st 25
Fabbri 50% retained
Berggren
Another piece

For perfetti

Winnipeg would opt for a comparable quality player in a position of need instead of a collection of lesser pieces.

I like where you're going with this for sure. I didn't include berggren just cuz feels like an odd swap of a similar player currently (Perfetti is younger and will most likely be better but currently similar production and play style) but I get the approach. Another thought I had would be the 25 1st, fabbri 50% and maybe a RHD prospect like Tuomisto or Gibson. That feels like a lot to give up for Perfetti who is an RFA but also I guess maybe that's what it takes to take him from Winnipeg.

Berggren is comparable, it wouldn't be that much of a drop off of production, think gus nyquist type of player. I do think there is something there, I was just adding in a starting point. I know the jets have a ton of LD which is also wings strength, so I'm assuming it would be something else

It would probably take an overpay, I'm a wings fan so if we could get him for less I'm ok with it, but think it would take something close to between what we proposed

Unfortunately I don't the Jets and Wings are good trading partners. It doesn't make sense to make a lateral move for a similar forward as that doesn't push the Jets forward, they need to start filling holes like RHD and 2C to build a more complete team.

That's totally fair to say. I don't think it's a bad deal that I threw out but you definitely could be right that it also just doesn't get done. That's the fun of NHL trade proposals lol. I do really appreciate the jets insight cuz I'll admit I'm not insanely knowledgable on their current needs and wants.

Think this is a fair and reasonable take
