Description
I don't want to rush this rebuild. Clearly not every prospect is Bedard and ready for the NHL. Heck even though he's going to win the Calder...he's got a lot to work on his game too. Let's allow the prospects to develop at their own pace. Don't rush them, BUT also continue to provide veteran leadership and really help the prospects that are at the NHL level to grow into their roles as well. It doesn't hurt to have a guy like Reaves ride the bench most nights and just be available if needed.

Additional Details:
I definitely think TOR wins this trade as it's essentially a LATE 2nd to take on Kampf and Reaves, BUT I could see Reaves being a good lockerroom guy for these kids and he'll help protect for sure. Kampf is the #4C and PKer. He's paid way too much for what he provides, but he does the #4C and PKer pretty well.

Nothing is impossible. Just don't see Lee at this stage in his career accepting a deal to Chicago. Maybe in a few years when his contract is up and he's a free agent if he can't latch on to a cup contender.

Even saying that though why would you want Lee on the Blackhawks right now? If I'm the Blackhawks I'm trading away draft picks (second rounders as they have 8 over the next 3 seasons) for young players other teams can't afford to keep. Think of Sean Durzi types. Trying to rebuild with just draft picks is really tough because a lot of them just don't develop and I believe that losing teams do more harm to a lot of them.

Nah, I'd rather use the picks to move up in the draft. Rebuilds take time and we needs veterans to helps teach these kids how to truly become professionals.

Based on Kyle's comments earlier today, it sure sounds like the Hawks are open to add multiple free agents. I don't think two or three forwards are out of the question. Check out Ben Pope's article. Good read.

I don't know if I took his comments this way. He said "we can't finish bottom 3 again" but at the same time says don't expect to be competing for the playoffs. I think this team plus one or two guys and minus the dead weight was taking that step anyways.

If the Hawks are replacing both Johnson's, Entwistle and Blackwell with Nazar, Slaggert, Dach and whoever, I'm not sure the team is that much better. To expect 3 or 4 rookies to perform at a level that improves your team by 8 or 10 wins seems pretty risky to me. Guess we'll see what happens.

They're getting back Taylor Hall, another 2/3 of a season from AA lost to injury, and will add at least 1 maybe two forwards via trade or free agency. Plus Nazar and Slaggart, who are a lot better than the guys you mentioned needing replacing. This on top of progression from Bedard, Reichel, and the 4 young NHL D. This will be a team that finishes with a top 10, but not top 3 pick right in line with Kd's plan.
