Not statistically impossible but they would have to be passed by at least all 3 of NJD, NYI, and PIT just to have a 3% chance at 1st OA. Right now they sit 5 points ahead of the Pens with 4 more ROW's

Well Detroit will likely lose their next 3 games.

Florida, Tampa and Rangers coming up.

They literally can't score a goal right now.

Shutout in 2 of last 3 games.

Detroit has no lottery luck. They have dropped back more spots than any one in the league. For Detroit to get the #1OA , Detroit would have the first 11 picks if the draft.

Detroit is the one team with worse lottery luck than San Jose.

Anaheim is up there. Not saying they're worse, but they're up there. Dropped back a spot in 2021 missing Matty Berniers. Missing on Bedard even though Leo looks fine. 1 off of Crosby.

I remember how angry Ducks GM Brian Burke was getting Bobby Ryan at #2 after Pittsburgh got Crosby at #1.

"Everyone says how great Pittsburgh is. They got a lottery ball bounce the right way. Give me a break." LOL

Anaheim has never moved forward in the history of the lottery, always back or standing pat, and has moved back the last 5 years in a row, except for 2022 when we took Mintyukov at 10 OA. Got jumped in 19 when we took Zegras at 9, in 20 when we took Drysdale at 6, at 21 when we took McTavish at 3, and last year when we took Carlson at 2.

We just pray that we either win it this year, or at least that Levshunov is on the board when our pick comes up.

Columbus, though, has truly HORRID lottery luck.

Where are you getting -3 from. I just explained how we've moved back 4 times in 5 to years.

Yeah, but go back and look at each draft. I get what you're saying, but are you complaining about Moritz Seider vs Byram or Turcotte? Are you complaining about Raymond vs Laf? I understand DRW moved back 5 of those 8 spots, BUT I'd argue the opposite. The "Bad Luck" gave you better players. You can't just say...we'd definitely have taken Tim Stützle. No one had Stutzle going before the 2x CHL player of the year.

I'm not a DRW fan, but I'd be more concerned about the picks that you didn't "lose" on. Kaspar, Edvinsson, Danielson has been ok.

LET'S MAKE SOMETHING VERY CLEAR I WASN'T COMPLAINING ABOUT ANY PICKS!!!!!!! I was just pointing out Detroit has awful lottery luck. Go back and read it again!!!

That's fair. I just don't think it's bad luck if you got lucky for not taking the worse players.

But at that point is it luck or is it skill of the people drafting.

in 2017 they fell back 2 spot and took Rasmussen and that puts Andersson and Mittelstadt in between. Did they get lucky Holland might have taken Andersson or Mittelstadt but the reasoning he gave for taking Rasmussen was him falling out of the top 3 leading up to the draft.

In 2018 there was no skill or luck involved Holland chose Zadina over Hughes. Which was just f****** stupid. His reasoning was the same as it was when he drafted Rasmussen.

In 2019 with Seider no one was going to take him for at least the next 10 picks.

In 2020 they took Raymond who worked out well but Stutzel would've been better. At the time most Detroit fans (including me) would've liked to get Laffy but the rumor was Yzerman was going to take Stutzel even at #1.

In 2021 they stayed at #6 and got Edvinsson, in 2022 they stayed at #6 and got Kasper and in 2023 they stayed at #9 and got Danielson. Staying in the same spot there really no luck there good or bad and we don't know enough to say if they were good or bad picks because Edvinsson has played 17 games, Kasper has played 1 and Danielson hasn't played a game yet.

So how lucky were they really? Maybe they don't deserve any luck after Holland took Zadina over Hughes. I was so pissed after that I didn't even watch the rest of the draft. But you can't tell me will a little luck in one of those last 3 drafts Detroit wouldn't be in a different place right now. Detroit's last top 3 pick was in 1990 and their last #1 was in 1986, I'm complaining about draft position and Calgary has never even had a top 3 pick.

Unfortunately Larkin just returned and then left the game 30 second into the contest with a Knee injury. Slackin for Macklin has gained more traction.
