Description
If we get a pick that falls between 6 and 9, I'd be open to trading it for young NHL help now. Based this idea off of this MTL team: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/5012414

Ignoring that the Canadiens probably aren't interested in trading young talent for picks right now (and the premise of the idea you linked is pretty flawed), Newhook and Barron are not analogous. It is unlikely that Montreal has much interest in Poulin and even if Montreal wanted another top-10 pick, they're not going to move Newhook, a late 1st, a (likely high) 2nd and the rest for one.

Pass on Smith for a year. Rather see Meier, Bratt, Holtz, Mercer all in top 6, save the 2nd for more of a need.

If the Pit pick is 6-9 I'd take a serious look at this. Would have to be a draft day deal and a specific prospect would have to still be available.
