My solution - if I can't trade Granlund...

Created by: MNBassman
Team: 2017-18 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 20, 2017
Published: Jul. 20, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assuming the Wild won't even consider trading Granlund, these are the two trades I would pursue to trade Zucker or Ennis and get the Wild out of cap hell!! This is a one or the other deal...both trades do not happen.

Trades

  1. Eakin, Cody
Additional Details:
The Wild give to get. They give up Zucker for Eakin and Vegas takes Ennis to help the Wild's cap issues. I don't like seeing Zucker go, but Eakin is a natural center and a solid player in spite of his slump last season! And, in order to re-sign Neiderrieter, Granlund, and Foligno, the Wild needs the cap space.
2.
MIN
  1. Graves, Ryan
Additional Details:
RFA Rights to Mika Zibanejad
NYR
  1. Granlund, Mikael
Additional Details:
Sign and trade deal for both players. Wild sign Zibanejad for 5 year at $5million per

How about NYI offers Casey Cizikas, Michael Dal Colle, and the higher of our 2018 1st's and 2018 2nd's for Granlund?

The Wild has almost 16 million in cap space to sign Granlund, Nino and Foligno. You don't think they can do it?

I think MN accepts. How close is Dal Colle to the NHL in your opinion?

Do the math. Once those three are signed and you add a 13th forward and a 7 d-man to the roster, there is less than $1million in cap space left. That makes managing the roster for injuries, call ups, etc very difficult.

Swap Dal Colle out for Barzal, get rid of the 2nd rounder, and we have a deal.

To put it mildly, it does not look very good.

Give Zuker and Ennis to get a player of the level of Ennis Eakin. This is stupid IMHO
