Admitting there are many centres as UFA, but 30 year 50 point Lindholm isn't worth of that $$$$ and especially that term.

Personally I would: Not give more than 2.5 mill to that LD spot, avoid giving that much to Lindholm, and hopefully find a good top 6 center for 6.5 mill, not sign Ned, and keep Ullmark. Ullmark is key for Boston, even with Swayman.

Ideally it would be 6 years. He’ll be 29 through December 2nd.

Reality is if you are using free agency to acquire a player, you likely overpay in either term or AAV. I’m using the Scheifele contract as the baseline. Lindholm is 1.5 years younger coming than Scheifele, but is coming off a down year. Maybe he goes for 7.5.

Whom are you thinking of? I can see diversifying that payment between a Left D and Forward, but I am thinking of paying a premium for the LD for less term because we need to allocate some of the funds to Frederic after next year

Maybe last season Lindholm could've asked for 8 million, but after this year I imagine his price has decreased quite a bit. I'm thinking 7 x 6.75 or 7 million

Imagine if he took the 9 mill x 8 years Conroy was offering

if you're going to overpay, do it for a high-end player (1st liner/pair D), not a 2C that could soon become a 3C. Martinez has regressed this year and will be 37yo. Same for Maroon. I would avoid the old players. Nedeljkovic hasn't been anything special, rather stick with Bussi/Dipietro or acquire a more consistent backup.

Great conceptually, Who? Look at free agency and tell me the name, because I don’t think this center exists. You could do a short term contract maybe and see how it goes. I fully acknowledge $8m over 7 years is an overpay, but even in the worst case scenario here … we’re in a position to add a very good player and a solid one on top of that,

Maybe it’s Guentzel instead of Lindholm? Maybe sign JDB or Bertuzzi and bring in a better defenseman like Skjei?

Martinez was a 1 year flyer. Haven’t watched much Vegas this year, but just thinking for a short term player who provides stability while Lohrei grows into the fourth role. Trying to allocate money for Frederic in 2025. Any d you would recommend here?

What does Chandler Stephenson make on his next deal?

Or what does Granlund go for?

There's no 1C available, that's the reality. Scheifele re-signed last year, Pettersson weeks ago, Hertl just got traded. Even a winger like Nylander. Build a solid 2nd line, have two top wingers on the 1st who carries a 2C in the 1C role is one option and even then, it's easier said than done.

Reinhart should be the best forward available. He's 29yo, but he's only had few seasons as a top line player and will be coming of a 50-goal, 90-pts season.
If he isn't re-signed, Guentzel is another one, 30yo. Duchene maybe although he's older and I would be surprised if he takes another discount.

I rather not give a long-term contract that is unlikely to age well and stick with a middle-six C on short-term contracts like they're doing right now. If there's someone I believe will be worth his contract for most of its duration, I'd do it. Lindholm isn't a 1st liner and I would definitely not go 8x8, 7x7 either and even 6x6, I'm worried.

Best hope for the Bruins is one of the top6 F free agents is willing to sign a 1-3 year contract although they will have to overpay. Then, most importantly, the player need to keep his level of play. It is why this whole thing of trying to contend for the Cup post-Bergeron is questionable. What even is the window? Sure feels like they will just end up lacking the top/elite forward talent if Pastrnak is the only forward at that level. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Granlund might be the worst “good” center in the league in terms of fit to system

Stephenson probably doesn’t make as much as he would have walking into the year. My guess is we would be going after a wing with premium money if we don’t allocate to Lindholm.

I seriously doubt you are getting a top 6 forward to sign a 3 year contract. It’s a fantasy that doesn’t really exist. I’d love an optimal contract, but those generally are tied to RFA’s you sign early. Swayman last year would have been an interesting option.

I do believe Boston is going to bring in two talents this offseason (one if they resign DeBrusk).

No idea why we let him go and replaced him with garbage Tierney.

Give Bussi the backup job. Much cheaper.

Take the $ on AMart and Ned and get Skjei instead.

I was thinking we’d want to not sign a player to a multi year contract here at that dollar figure, but I’d rather have Skjei over AMadt/Ned any day,

Bussi or DiPietro probably deserve a shot

It happens. It made no sense at the time especially a player who was an RFA. He’s part of the only line playing worth a damn right now in this crappy game.

Atleast I am going to the Celtic game tonight

Nieither Busdi nor DiPietro will be waiver exempt next year either. Getting them through waivers might be difficult.

Agree to an extent. Neither Bussi or DiPietro is a top shelf G in the AHL this year (with DiPietro being the better of the two), but both have solid talent.
