With Philly acquiring Ryan Johansen earlier today and then putting him on waivers, should NJ put in a claim for him? 1 more year after this at 4mil per, could be a decent 3rd line center. Let me know what you guys think.

I doubt it. I bet COL shopped him around first before dumping him on PHI. If NJ was interested they could've made a deal earlier and COL would've given them a pick for it

From an Avs fan, no they should not claim him. Devils fans will be begging for a buy out by the end of the season. Don’t watch a lot of the Devils but I assume they are a young, fast paced team on paper. Johanson does not fit that playing style anymore. He looked like he just couldn’t keep up on any line with the Avs and wasn’t a gritty physical player so he didn’t really fit 3rd/4th lines. Good at faceoffs but that’s about it.
