Blues Sellers

Description
Really curious to see how these next few weeks are for the Blues. I could see them as passive sellers if they do well, but could be bigger sellers if they slip a bit.

As for the Rangers trade, not really sure on the overall value but more just curious on the viewpoint and what pieces would be moving around for the rangers to get both Buch and Hayes. I feel like no matter what pieces I add to the trade, Blues fans would say not enough and Rangers fans would say too much so I'm not even going to worry about that trade as much, but more or less a decent start to get the convo going
Trades
1.
STL
  1. Goodrow, Barclay
  2. Kakko, Kaapo
  3. Miller, K'Andre
  4. 2025 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Not really sure on overall values but a few pieces I wouldn't mind in return. For Buch alone, would like a top end d prospect, 1st and a way to balance cap. Not sure on Hayes value but with retention a first could be possible. Schneider instead of KAM may be fine too. Not focusing much on overall value so feel free to share what could be a fair offer here
NYR
  1. Buchnevich, Pavel ($2,600,000 retained)
  2. Hayes, Kevin ($1,200,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Gets NYR a 3C and top RW, two biggest needs but a bit of an overpayment may be needed for a one stop shop
2.
STL
  1. Woo, Jett
  2. 2024 6th round pick (VAN)
3.
STL
  1. 2024 5th round pick (TBL)
TBL
  1. Scandella, Marco
Additional Details:
Cheap D replacement that won't cost much draft capital
4.
PIT
  1. Saad, Brandon
Additional Details:
Just cause it keeps coming up daily and I haven't seen it yet today, so here's fulfilling that requirement
5.
STL
  1. 2024 6th round pick (VGK)
VGK
  1. Blais, Samuel
Additional Details:
Anywhere but could fit Vegas as a bottom six guy that can throw the body around in the playoffs

STL fans have been trying to shovel off slow Saad to us for years now. Not remotely interested.

Once again, Pit fans keep sending this swap offer. Don't like it? Fine. Don't really care. More added it since it's funny it shows up often enough

Easy pass for rangers. They don’t need a top line RW at the expense of Kakko and KAM

How about a 2nd and Blais for Kakko? (satire for the Buch trade)

Yeah that's not enough for K'Andre alone....

Maybe a mid round pick for retained Hayes though.

Set the ACGM feed filter to STL, scroll through, and you’ll see who has overwhelmingly been pushing this garbage trade. There were at least three STL fan’s ACGMs that included this trade on first page alone. You’re stuck with slow Saad.

Hayes unretained, sure. But retention for 3 years is not going to be happening for a mid round pick. Everyone says that cause the return Philly got. Philly was desperate to get rid of him since he didn't fit their culture/system. Past returns don't mean a thing

Rangers have no reason to offload top roster players and gut their depth. A lot of Rangers fans would love a Buch return but there is no reason to send Kakko/Key.

What if it were Schneider instead of KAM? Feels like the East is pretty open this year (and maybe next) so Rangers could just go all in which would lose them some younger pieces in the system but a cup could make it worth it. Could be the best shot they have with the core starting to creep up to their early 30s.

So Schneider, Kakko, Goodrow and a 1st (maybe conditional pick as well) for Buch and Hayes? Just those two fix their two biggest needs at the expense of what is currently a bottom pair d-man and a few bottom 6 pieces

I think Vancouver prefers Buchnevich more than Kapanen.

Past returns are quite literally the best predictor of future returns.

But even before we consider that, it's already plenty of value.

I'm not sure which you want to use.
Petry getting about 5 mil retained returned a 4th and a waivers guy.
Hayes getting about 11 mil retained returned a 6th
Johansen getting 8 mil retained returned another waivers player
Burns getting about 8 mil retained returned a 3rd and a 4th liner.

So Hayes getting about 3.5 mil retained (2mil and change of actual $) getting a 3rd or 4th is actually pretty good value. And pretty far above any remotely comparable trade in recent memory.

The only piece Vancouver has that can be used in a trade for Buch is Willander.

I guess its a matter of whether you view the value as being compensation for the amount the dealing team is retaining vs the quality of the contract the player holds at their new aav.

Obviously Philly is retaining much more than St. Louis, but they also have the unfortunate position of reducing Hayes from a disasterous 7 million contract to a 3.5 million contract. They had no choice but to get rid of him and 3.5 mill his contract is about on par with his play. If the Rangers were only paying around 1.7 million for 3 years on Hayes they would be getting a great deal. I'm not going to push it as a 1st round, but in my mind it would have to be one of either a 2nd, Kakko, or Robertson.

The value might be about right, but there is just no reason for the Rangers to make a trade addressing RW depth and trade away a top 6 RW. I also think Schneider will not be shipped off as he is likely the eventual Trouba replacement. I also don't think they need Hayes as Brodzinski has really played well. If they really want Buch Drury would likely need to part with the 1st, a high-end prospect like Berard/Sykora/BMB, and maybe a Zac Jones if the Blues want an NHL-ready dman

Which is why I would assume the Lindholm trade was the last of Vancouver's big grabs. But if vancouver were willing to make a Buch trade happen for Willander and their 2025 1st, I would take it.

Dude. What are you on about? There has literally been 75-100 Smith for Saad trades from Pens fans in the last month. And Saad only arrived in 2021, with his first season in STL a banger, so nobody did it then.

If you’re so high on him then why do STL fans keep attempting to shovel him off to us? Follow the directions in my previous comment and you will see how many STL fans have done so in their ACGM’s. Redundancy. Last year was the same story, but trying to fetch picks from us for him. Nope. If you’re so high on him, then keep him. Simple.
