Would you trade Morgan Reilly for that Andersson package? If the answer is no, which I'm sure it will be, then you might want to reevaluate your value. In my opinion, it needs alot more quality then two late firsts, one being next year, and a bottom 4 replacement.

I'd trade Rielly for that package since it would be the biggest package trade for a D in 20+ years.

...... What?
Chychrun got a better package.
One could argue the that quality of the pick in the Hronek trade but I'll say this one is slightly better.
Ekholm package was similar.
That's just the last year or so that I can remember and then obviously the first Karlsson trade was substantially more than this.

What in the Rangers deal makes you think nets Leafs a top prospect, a 1st and. 2nd. Bert and Domi are UFA after this season?

Why would Drury accept four cap dumps for actually valuable players? None of those players are good, and they're all overpaid lol. Would Toronto accept a trade like Goodrow, Pitlick, Wheeler, for Knies and a 1st? Didn't think so

Chychrun got a 1st, 2nd, 2nd.

This is a 1st, 1st, 24y old top top 4 RHD and B- prospect.

Karlsson is similar value Norris, 1st, 2nd, 2nd. It's revisionist to say that the Sharks meant to trade the third overall pick it should have been a late 1st and two late 2nds. Norris was also a late 1st.

So the Karlsson package was 2 late 1sts and 2 latest 2nds.

This package is 2 late 1sts and Lili+Abruzzese. Lili alone is worth 2 late 2nds. Sandin proved he's likely worth a 1st+.

Eklholm was traded for a 1st, Scheafer so two late 1sts.

Lol you just named a bunch of cap dumps. None of the players going to NYR are cap dumps. Bert went for a 1st+ last year. Domi went for a 2nd+, Jarnkrok two year ago when for a 2nd+3rd+.

It's easy just looking at their past trades in the last 24 months to see their value.

Chychrun got pick #12. That alone is worth more than two late firsts a year apart.
Norris #19 overall, not really late. Don't know if Lily is worth two late seconds but that's debatable.

At the time Ottawa made that trade they were 5th in the division. Toronto is currently 4th. Ottawa was fighting for a wildcard spot. The fact they fell off doesn't make the trade more valuable.

Lili is easily more valuable than Sandin by every analytics metric, usage, role, etc. so if Sandin was worth a 1st+ it's hard to argue Lili isn't. He's 24, most D don't peak until they hit 26-29. Find articles about Rasmus Andersson from 2 years ago and people were wondering if he was a top 4 guy. The contract he signed was universally bashed as an overpayment. They even brought in Weegar to play above him.

Again if the standard is if the leafs should take this package for Rielly then the answer is yes. A comparable package would be something like Schneider +1st+2nd from NYR.

Take that deal. Get a a young guy who can cap out as a #2, likely a #3-4 for the next 7 years. Sign Hanifin (overpay to $8M to get him if needed) in the summer. And you still have a 1st+2nd left. That's a much better position for Toronto to be in than to just have Rielly.

Even more true for Calgary who will just stay out of the Bottom 5-10 for the. Next 3 years then have Andersson potentially walk for nothing when his contract is up or traded for less at that deadline.

Except when you look at how they're all playing now. They're all horrific this season, all negative value. Using past trades to assess current value is inaccurate. Would Ryan Reaves go for a first, because he did in the past? No

How are they playing horrible compared to past years?
Bert had 4 goals and 14 points when he was traded last year. His has nearly doubled the production at 5v5 per 60mins this year than he did when he was traded for a 1st+ last year.

Domis production on a per minute basis is the same this year as last. He's playing 3rd line not 1st obviously his numbers will drop.

Like seriously you come here to talk hockey and you don't know the first damn thing about hockey.

Ironic lol. Obviously if Tyler Bertuzzi has continued to show he's not worth anything for two years, he'd be worth less than last year when the leafs were hoping he'd return to previous form. I wouldn't accuse people of not knowing hockey in your situation.
