    Too much to retain on Smith for such a minimal return. He's not a rental and has another year on contract.

    I think the Canes would be interested in this. I say no way Pitt is retaining 1.5 a year for the remainder of the contract but I would absolutely see the Canes being interested in Rakelle at 3.5 per. Would be a cost effective replacement for Teravainen.
