Lets be prepared for reality - TDL

Created by: Brain
Team: 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 9, 2024
Published: Feb. 9, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The TDL is going to be very boring with Sabres sending off minor pieces and that's it. Any moves they want to make will be after the season. Okposo stays but move the vets and VO if anyone will even take him.

A note on Mittlestadt: Sabres can trade him if the offer is right, but most playoff teams aren't trading what Buffalo needs in order to acquire him, so he's staying. Tampa is the only team, with Sergachev's money, that could maybe make a move for him and push Cirelli to the 3rd line, but there's no NHL ready assets that they can give Buffalo.
Trades
1.
BUF
  1. 2025 4th round pick (TBL)
TBL
  1. Johnson, Erik ($1,625,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Lost Sergachev, gets a Stanley Cup winning vet to make another run.
2.
BUF
  1. 2026 7th round pick (NYI)
NYI
  1. Olofsson, Victor ($2,375,000 retained)
Additional Details:
This could be any team that needs PP2 help and bottom 6 scoring, but his value is low as he's been scratched for a majority of January.

Picked Islanders as they don't have much scoring behind the big boys, but again, this could be any playoff team looking for scoring or hell, maybe a bottom feeder team makes a move for him with retained salary and flips him again to a playoff team retained to get him at like 1.2M.
3.
BUF
  1. 2024 5th round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Girgensons, Zemgus
Additional Details:
4th line pickup, can play with Goodrow and move Vesey up the lineup.

I think adams might be better off holding olofsson and letting him go in FA if he can't get atleast a 2nd with retention. He should have traded him as soon as he got the job, if he really has been shopping him, letting some one get him for a 7th just isnt worth it. Ollofsson hasnt earned a cup opportunity through his play (like johnson and Z) or else he'd garner more. Just keep him instead of showing gm's that if you wait long enough sabres will give you a 20 goal scorer for a 7th. Make them deal in FA if they want him. We dont even give 3rd rounders a chance in this organization so why get a 7th.
