Evander Kane and Pittsburgh pass, not even close to the asking price for jake Guentzel. You need to add a blue chip prospect as well.

The only way I can see Oilers get Guentzel is finding a GM dumb enough to take the full contract of Campbell....Dubas is dumb but not up to that level.

The Oil have no prospects, at this point Holloway and Broberg are C level prospects (mainly because starting next year they are waiver bound players), Oilers waited too long, as a couple seasons ago they were A level prospects.

Caps pass. That's a whole lot of nothing. They'll take a 1st.

Retain 1.75 mil on kane and pens accept. Or throw in another 1st.
Otherwise they pass pretty quickly. Not taking all that risk on Kane at the end of crosbys career unless its at a good discount.

While I mostly agree, I think that getting kane retained would at least replace a top 6 winger at a discount. And add a different element to the penguins.
Plus the standard first for high end rentals.
I don't even think the oilers have much that would interest the penguins. They don't have any high end prospects, and you can only throw so many picks at a trade to make it make sense.
The oilers probably aren't a good trade partner tbf.

Tex is going to cost a bit more. Young with team control, is having a bad return year from Europe, sure, but has shown he can be a versatile B9 guy. I don’t think he’s moved for less than a 2nd.

And a Cambell-for-Elvis swap is destiny at this point.

I’d consider 625K but we’d need 1.5 mill retained on Guentzel to make it work for us this year. Would give you the retention on Kane for 2 more years

big agree on this. he's beloved in the room and in the org. perfect bottom 6 guy who you can trust to fill in in the top 6 when there are injuries. plays either wing. good size and speed. kills penalty. jarmo would have the price on him at a third or better.

18 of his first 60 NHL games were playoff games. that's how much faith the organization has in him. plus, he's befriended three of our five most premium long-term pieces who we will absolutely try to sign to contracts with term. no way jarmo throws that away for peanuts.

Penguins pass on that deal then . There will be better offers elsewhere that don’t involve a potential cap dump / locker room cancer . Only reason that they would take Kane would be at a good discount.
If the pens are retaining on guentzel then the price goes up. If the oilers aren’t retaining on Kane then price goes up a lot
