Swing big? Leafs are no better this season and then they take Graves and PLD poor long contracts. Plus they lose Niemela and Minten.

Lose two prospects who won't help them win anything significant in the next four years?
AM34 will not be in his prime forever
Leafs need D now and a legit 2nd line center to replace Tavares, who is showing his age

Leafs aren't any better on defence....worse actually with the exchange Broberg/Graves for Brodie and McCabe. Leafs are worse at forwards with PLD exchanged for Bertuzzi and Domi. Yes the Leafs are going to need a replacement for Tavares, but for 8.5m you can get a better centre han PLD, and likely not even have to trade for one.
