If TB misses playoffs by TDL

Created by: DownToATee
Team: 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 24, 2024
Published: Jan. 24, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
STAMKOS IS COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL AND VERY UNLIKELY! Let's get that out of the way right now. *Stamkos would be choosing EDM with his NMC in this HYPOTHETICAL scenario*
Walker/Seeler for Holloway/Kulak is a great deal IMO.

-I see Holland rolling with Pickard until the playoffs where I see Campbell joining the team. Campbell costs too much to move. Buyout in the summer if he doesn't bounce back.
-Give Broberg the 3LD job full-time next year. Bring him up if an injury occurs. Do not trade this kid!

Need to add again that this is HYPOTHETICAL because TB fans in the comments aren't grasping this concept!
Trades
1.
EDM
  1. Stamkos, Steven ($4,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
3rd team retains $2,125,000 for EDM 2025 3rd.
TBL
  1. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (EDM)
  3. 2025 4th round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
*Conditions* 2025 4th upgrades to 2026 3rd if EDM reaches Stanley Cup Final.
Similar return for P. Kane last year with more guarantee for TB. Minor leaguers swapped if necessary but this is the meat & potatoes of the deal.
2.
EDM
  1. Seeler, Nick
  2. Walker, Sean ($1,325,000 retained)
PHI
  1. Holloway, Dylan
  2. Kulak, Brett
Additional Details:
Emerging former 1st rd pick, RFA($875k QO) who will be a full-time NHLer next season & a reliable veteran 3LD with 2 years remaining after this season who can play both sides and has seen 2nd pair mins with success.

over the cap

Please read the comments on the trade!
"3rd team retains $2,125,000 for EDM 2025 3rd."
That means EDM would be under the cap by $308,333
I can't account for the $1,816,667 over the cap because CapFriendly doesn't allow 3-way trades in AGM.

You must've missed that part too. Maybe I should make it bigger.

not what the flyers want for those players, we have a ton of winger prospects with Brink, Foerster we already have a problem of too many D-men so I think taking one back is redundant, it will 100% be for picks unless flyers management really likes Holloway, in any case I doubt Kulak would be something the flyers want, they'd probably just rather keep Seeler

Ignoring the Stamkos part.

Holloway won’t be moved. He’s literally popping right now. Hes looked great back from injury, he’s looked great right before injury, he should have 1G 1A in 2GP if not for Brown shooting into the goalie on an empty net set up by Holloway. Holloway at his cap hit is an immense add for the Oilers going into the playoffs. He’s untouchable.

Kulak also should not be moved. He’s a beast in the playoffs. When Nurse was suspended in the playoffs, it was Kulak who stepped up and took on his minutes. No way the Oilers move on from a home town product that brings it in the most important games.

So no to Seeler.

Walker though is an okay upgrade on Ceci. Walker can be had for like a 2nd + 4th. So yes to Walker, no to Seeler.

Holloway also plays center which is attractive.
Kulak would be a fine addition and very likely outplays other LD options. PHI flipping him is also an attractive option.
This deal is fair.

Steven Stamkos prior to the start of the season after the "I'm disy" comment Stamkos"I can't say what will happen after my contract expires however, I can guarantee I will be here until then."
But Being TB has had the best winning percentage since 12/1 won't miss the playoffs.

Holloway is improving but EDM needs scoring depth for the playoffs. As much as Holloway is expected to help in the future, decisions need to be made about winning a Stanley Cup!
Kulak's cap hit makes him replaceable. You can gush over these guys all you want but the fact is the PHI trade would be an upgrade for the Oilers! Seeler would be fighting for ice time with Desharnais as Walker can play both sides! Ceci has been on fire with Nurse while playing top line mins and you want to keep Kulak over him?... Get some sleep, you're trippin

So both Brisebois and are lieing

Stranger things have happened... Quit acting like it's not a possibility, even if it's not probable. I clearly said in the comments "STAMKOS IS COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL AND VERY UNLIKELY! Let's get that out of the way right now"... Read before you comment like this

Your hypothetical has about the same chance of happening as I have of winning the Powerball tonight.

You mean to tell me someone named "boltsfan71" overvalues their player? Kane is a pretty comparable player but w.e

prior to a week ago I would have agreed that stamkos being moved would be unlikely but possible but last week JBB gave his presser and said that even if tampa miss the playoffs they arent trading stamkos so I think its pretty safe to say he is staying

kane only got the return he did because he would only go to NYR though, giroux is a better comparable

Until a contract is signed with a NMC it could happen!

Stamkos has a full NMC... He would choose the destination just like Kane did! Plus Giroux is 2M cheaper
