That is a very one-sided traded for Duchene. The market has been set with Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones, and Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson. Johansen and Hall were both better players, and younger, than Duchene at the time they were traded. Chabot is still a prospect so that lowers his value, but he's also the best defensive prospect in the league. He should be untouchable as is, especially if they're dreaming for that kind of package. Jones wasn't even a 30 point defender when they traded the 70 point getter in Johansen. Duchene should get nothing even remotely close to that package. He will, but it shouldn't be the Sens doing it. Not at the cost of Chabot. A proper trade would be Duchene for Ryan Murray (CBJ) straight up if it follows the market value.

Duchene isn't on the same level as Ryan Johansen or Taylor Hall, both of whom can be the best forward on a championship team. Matt Duchene cannot be the best forward on a championship team, as he is a 2c and nothing more.

Duchene should net whatever another GM is willing to pay him, but if I were a GM on an average team (lets use Boston), I might do Zbroil and Spooner for Duchene, but even thats a semi-strech

I like the concept of bringing in Duchene.

1. Trades seldom involve both teams trading the same pick (2nd rounders). I would suggest removing them and if one is deemed more valuable than the other, or in a better draft year, change the remaining picks involved to reflect that.
2. I don't see Chabot being moved in this deal. In fact, there are no realistic trades where I would see him being moved. He is being talked about being one of the favorites for the Calder already. More likely to see one of Chlapik, Brown or even White before you would see Chabot moved, and of those three, I would not part with White in a Duchene deal.
3. I think if we moved prospects/picks, we would still have to send NHL salary back, so perhaps we also send Burrows and/or Hammond, etc. back to better manage our cap.

I wouldn't be surprised if Duchene was in a Senators uniform this year, given we haven't done much as yet, but there are still a fair number of suitors and I have no true idea of what the value is at the GM level nor how the value is changing, but I would be surprised if it was increasing with time.
