Ik he's not ideal for the jets as he's a lhd but he can play right side and has years remaining as well. We could move pionk down and have Chychrun play middle pair 2nd pp and pk time. He really just covers a lot of defensive needs besides shooting right but he'd replace schmidt so same amount of right shot dmen in the lineup.
In terms of what he's worth sens paid 12th overall in the 2023 draft, 2nd round pick in 2024 and a 2nd round in 2026. Obviously the sens will want a package that is close to this but Obviously with the situation of him not wanting to stay his price has definitely dropped but by how much? That's the main question.
What a package could look like is some type of cap player to even out the cap better. Players this could be is schmidt (m-ntc 10 team no trade), iafallo (ideally not him but makes the deal easiest to do as well), appleton (he's a right shot bottom 6 pker but he's been inconsistent most of the year) and barron (idk if he makes enough cap wise but he's young and could be a great middle sixer)
The trade would most likely include a pick as well as it stands if Jets win the presidents trophy the pick would be 27th overall unless they make it to the 3rd round. Jets also have mtl 2nd which at this time is 41st overall but can be in a range of 36-44 depending on how mtl finishes. So what pick makes more sense? Obviously a first makes more sense but depending on the package the 2nd may work. Alternatively could have it be mtl 2nd that upgrades to the jets 1st if they win a set number of rounds with Chychrun playing 50% of games.
Now the prospects. The jets have a pool that has a lot of different types of players. The main untouchable prospects are the 3 forwards in lambert, mcgroarty and barlow as all 3 of these players bring an intriguing element to the future of the jets and the org will value these guys higher as a result. Prospects that are near the top that could be added include Lucius (middle six center that has has injuries but has the most upside as a point producer in the nhl similar to a norris lite imo) chibrikov (first season na and ahl and has really boomed most likely a 2nd liner that is a complementary piece but really smart and threat to pass or score comparable to Teravainen) salomonsson (rhd that is playing shl and played world juniors, Jets best rhd prospect likely a 2nd pair guy could become a sean walker esk but more physical) and finally heinola (most nhl ready plays both sides and flashes of greatness already, most likely a middle pair offensive dman but reliable defensively imo comparable to forsling). Most other prospects aren't as high ranking or would need multiple to get it done but others include: torgersson, Ford, kuzmin, wagner, julien, levis, Nehring, etc.
One prospect that would be a complete wild card in any trade would be rashevsky. He's a 23 year old rw playing his 3rd year in the khl, said he wants to come over when he can make an impact, has 107 points (56 goals) in 166 games. He's a goal scorer and most likely already nhl caliber nhl skills. He may be more risky due to his age and how much more he can improve but the khl is the 2nd best league putting up these numbers is great for a 5th round pick as a double overager.
Oh I forgot you only like lindholm and no other players for the jets
Jets have zero need for another LHD, but sure… let’s waste assets getting another one… definitely a Chevy kind of move… he’s got most Hets fans expecting the mediocre and being happy for it

Could not resign Dillon and boom need a lhd as heinola is more valuable as a trade chip then waiting for him to be a nhl player that actually makes a regular impact

I’m one who doesn’t think we should resign Dillon…Samberg is ready to take the 2LD slot next season and Chisholm takes the bottom pairing LD slot… Heinola’s best value to WPG has always been as a trade asset.
We need to move Schmidt for cap reasons, so we need an RHD more than another LHD, regardless what side he plays
Depends on what direction Staios/Andlauer want to take the team. If they are looking to be a playoff team next year I’m not sure if a package of future assets makes sense, even if the value is fair. I think they may look for more of a hockey trade, maybe 1-for-1 for Zegras? Or an extended Guentzel? Or something like that where they aren’t downgrading. Or just one really high pick like say, CBJ or MIN’s 7-10th overall pick
