That’s awful for the Canucks. We aren’t trading 2/3rds of one of the best lines in hockey this season

Make it one of Podkolzin/Raty, the 1st, and the 2nd and it’s fair

That’s fair but need a roster player going to PIT to make cap fit

Drop the 1st round pick and this is a fair trade- otherwise it’s a huge overpay

I read somewhere recently, I can't remember now, but the typical few places I actually check (spectorshockey.net, nhlrumors.com possibly - referencing others), that Podkolzin is looking like a keeper in the making with his play right now in the AHL. If that ends up being true, best they keep him.

Yeah he’s been playing really well in the AHL and I’d love to keep him if possible. But if he gets a deal for Guentzel done I’d probably make that deal. Although based on rumours/reports it seems like Hoglander could be dealt in a trade for a top 6 forward rather than someone like Podkolzin

If I were still a Canucks fan, and let's face it, I have the soft spot having grown up there, unless Guentzel comes with an extension, I'd keep Vasily. With an extension for Guentzel that works for the team, then he'd be a fair trade chip. The whole thing rests on Pettersson and what he wants to do. A guy like Guentzel might not want to commit unless he can ensure he has Pettersson to play with. Depends what the scouts say I guess, is Podkolzin going to be a better bet than Hoglander to be a better player in the long run?
