Created by: APumaInAJar
Team: 2017-18 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 6, 2017
Published: Jul. 6, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The 2005-2006 Canes were lead by a hot goalie, young scoring forwards and a few veteran leaders. Now they have one of the best defenses in the League to go with that and if Scott Darling works out the could come out from nowhere and win another Cup.

Jagr won't be taking a pay cut IMO... Only if he's going to a cap tight contender or if it's a last resort

They have 12million in cap give him what he wants for 1 year. He is gonna have to take a pay cut to play for any playoff team.

Um Petry is worthless to Carolina, Carolina would do Fleury and Bean for Paccioretty. Carolina is not trading any of its top four for anything less than a massive overpayment. Not to mention the fact that Faulk is not much less valuable than Paccioretty to begin with.

As a Flyers fan, I have a very firm understanding of the process of drafting defensemen.

I agree that you shouldn't trade prospects for established talent, unless you are a serious contender in the playoffs. IMO, I wouldn't do the deal, but that is because of my standpoint on prospects and drafting

No you're against the trade cause you don't think Carolina are contenders, cause if you did, you'd make the trade. But you can't be a contender without acquiring pieces to get you there. Are you telling me that Hanifin Slavin Pesce Faulk TVR Dahlbeck are not a good enough top 6 to eventually contend with Nashville's top 6? Imo they are. Im giving a 35 goal scorer, 28 yrs old , 4.5 mill for 2 more years. I'm asking for 2 prospects that will not crack the team by default. Like i said to someone else...Francis didn't acquire Williams and co. for nothing.

Calm down dude. Petry was playing with Emelin most of the season, that doesn't help his cause.I'll retain 1 mill of Pertrys contract....?

I am against the trade because, unless you are a serious contender, around top-6 in Vegas's odds as a baseline, you shouldn't trade away prospects for established players.

The Flyers would have been contenders if they traded Travis Sanheim, Sam Morin, Robert Hagg, Phil Myers, German Rubsotv, Cart Hart, etc. but my theory is, which is adapted from multiple general managers in different sports, is that you build from the blue line up, every asset has value, and you don't trade prospects for established players

Sorry, I just don't think Petry would have a place in Carolina's lineup. Sure Carolina should move one young defenseman, but I don't think Faulk will be part of it.

So Lombardi didn't know what he was doing when he traded B. Schenn Simmonds and J.Johnson for established Richards and Carter?

All of Carolinas D is 25 or younger. And IMO they're better than Pitts or Washingtons D , without even having Fleury or Bean on the roster. Anyway agree to disagree
