That's quite low on the Hurricanes... we'll figure it out... we have one of the best coaches in the league, the best d-core, and a superstar... we'll be more than okay

I don’t think Carolina has a superstar. They have some star level players like Aho and Slavin, but I wouldn’t say either are a superstar

Aho is a superstar... A PPG player in a system that suppresses offense while being a well above average defensive forward and being able to be lethal in all situations... how is that not a superstar?

A superstar should be top 5 in their position at minimum, otherwise you risk watering down the definition - not everyone gets a superstar badge. Doubt Aho is even a top 10 centre

Aho has been an average to below average defensive forward for most of his career and hovers right around a PPG. For him to become a superstar to me he’s either need to become a Selke level forward with his current offensive play or a ~100 point scorer

Would you consider guys like Brady Tkachuk, Zibanejad, Hischier, Keller, Buchnevich, and Fiala superstars? Those are guys that are pretty similar level players to Aho, and are all star players rather than superstar players imo (some people will say Tkachuk is a superstar but I personally think he’s a bit overrated due to his last name)

For me a superstar you have to be around a top 20, maybe push it to top 30 player in the league. Aho isn’t in there

I do think there are probably more than 5 centers and more than 5 defensemen that are superstars, but I agree with you for the most part

Star player yes. He is not a superstar though. As others have said he would either need to become Bergeron/prime Toews or a consistent 90+ point player. He's a top 15 center, not top 10.

Tkachuk, Zibanejad, Hischier, Keller, Buchnevich, and Fiala all play in much more offensively friendly system than Aho... on pretty much any other team Aho would be a 40+ goal scorer putting up 90-100 points a season. Zibanejad and Hischier would probably be high-20s or low-30's in goals and probably in the 70s in points playing on the Canes. It's not fair to Aho to use the same metrics for superstardom considering the systems advantage most "superstars" have

He would put 90 to 100 points on pretty much any other team... it's just that RBA's system is so defensively focused. He also contributes in a lot of way that doesn't get noticed mainly on the defensive end... plus determining whether players are superstars based on just one attribute is absolutely stupid

No he probably wouldn't, he would probably just more consistently hit the 80 point mark. Probably not 90+ though. He's the same caliber player as guys like Hintz and Zibanejad

He probably would because he would be able to get a lot more points of the PP (the hurricanes pp has been awful the last few years due to coaching problems and not a good enough talent) and be allowed to be more creative in the opponent's zone. Hintz and Zibanejad also get carried a lot by the linemates that they play with Robertson and Panarin unlike Aho who doesn't have such a linemate to rely on (Teuvo and Jarvis are both good overall players but aren't on the same level as Robertson and Panarin)

I'd put the Hurricanes 3-4 spots up but other wise this is a very good list... they've had a brutal schedule to start the year in terms of two trips to the West Coast but beside those two trips they've been themselves

I haven't gotten to watch a lot of canes hockey this year. 9th in pts % from here on out is certainly strong, and imo that's all hammers of teams i have ahead of them. But I have faith the canes will figure it out. All ya really need is 1 of your 3 goalies to get hot

Hurricanes PP has been middle of the pack the last 3 years, and very good the 2 years before that
23/24: 16th
22/23: 20th
21/22: 13th
20/21: 2nd
19/20: 8th

Yes but most of these top 30 players are on top 10 PP and accumulate a lot of points from it

It'll probably end up being Kocketkov... he looks so good at times he just needs to be more consistent

imo you should sell low on Pyotr and send him to New Jersey for a 4th round pick tbh

Thats line choices he should be playing with Svech as Svech is the best offensive player on the Hurricanes. Regardless that is not enough to boost him in points to 90+, max 85.
