Don't know where this Hanifin to Philly deal came about but it makes no sense considering Zamula has played well, Andrea is on the horizon, and likely Sanheim/York taking up another spot on the left side in the near future with guys like Grans, Bonk, Attard not to far off.

Are you going to bank everything on Andrae? I personally don't have that much of an issue with small defensemen but some NHL coaches and teams do. Other than Zamula, York and Sanheim Philly doesn't really have anything else coming in their system for LHD. Hanifin is a substantial upgrade to Zamula, who I agree has played well. He is young enough to be a part of the core for years to come at only 26 and has already established himself as a very good two way defenseman. I figured at this price it would be a no brainer for Philly considering Zamula likely never gets to the level Hanifin is at.

I'm not necessarily putting stock in andrea, I just see a situation where we have a left side of York and Sanheim already taking the top 4 spots. Plus, as torts as stated he's playing the young guns. I'd love Hanifin on the Flyers, I just do see how he could fit for the longer term.

Also no need to spend assets when he can come in free agency if he really wants to

Cristall is leading the WHL in PPG and looks like a stud. Mantha is an anchor rn but cap situation becomes easier with Backstrom LTIR.

Caps are not so desperate for help at C to make this deal; the post-Ovi rebuild is imminent and they need all of their own picks. He will break the record playing with traffic cones if it comes to it.

Then make it a third that turns into a second if they make the playoffs, same thing.

Interesting Trades. I think I’d want another 2nd or swap the Puck to a 1st for Zadorov 50% retained

Swap Mantha with Kuznetsov or Strome

Add another 2nd or 3rd for the Retention and maybe send a different prospect than Bertucci for Tanev

I’d try to keep and extend Hakanpaa, otherwise Peeke should only cost a 4th or Prospect no longer in CGY’s future plans

HUGE NO on the PHI Trade. We’ll get more for Hanifin elsewhere

The Vladar Trade is interesting, but it means taking $1.4mil back. Maybe add another 3rd/4th Pick for that

I think that's all asking too much.

Zadorov is a good third pairing guy that can play second pair, that's a pretty good return for him in my opinion.

That first is going to be high, if it's top 10 then it's next year and likely high again and Cristal is a pretty good prospect. Lindholm isn't an elite offensive producer although he is elite defensively. With Backstrom likely being done, swapping Mantha for Kuzy or Strome doesn't make sense for them at all.

Bertucci is a pretty good prospect and a second that can turn into a first is pretty good value.

To get two good young players for one player has alot more value than you are giving credit for. Both of them are pretty good, under team control for multiple years and have good potential. I think you under rate the value of players that are already established.

Getting value for Vladar, by taking a cap dump, is better than paying to dump him.

They can find another guy like Zadorov then… except that doesn’t exist and Big Mean D-Men go for a Premium at the Deadline

So what about CGY not having depth at Centre!? Flames will be looking for an NHL Centre in return on any Trade for him

LD isn’t a position of need for the Flames and given the interest for Tanev, it’ll start with a 1st and replacement player with retention costing more on top of that

Like Tortorella, I think Frost sucks. Besides, we already have Dube who is better. Again, we don’t need an LD in return but if we wanted Zamula, we’d simply offer a mid-to-late pick. He’s skinny, slow and the only thing that is of any interest is that he played in Calgary for the Hitmen.

Similar to Tanev and Zadorov, Hanifin will be highly sought after and so I expect the return for each of them to be high

Now whether Conroy knows this after giving Toffoli away for pennie’s on the dollar, I don’t know, so can only hope 🤞
