Description

Swapping depth. This is to help build a bottom line and second line with clearer identities. Canucks give up scoring for shut-down defence and a little extra toughness. They also get a little cap space. This would be a precursor to a swap of Garland for a better 3c with comparable contract and term.

I saw a trade proposal from NYI fan of Beau 50% retained for Clutterbuck. This is a little more fair IMO and could fit both team's needs, but I'm curious what NYI fans think. This does fit their cap structure. If it's close it could be adjusted with lower picks.

Matt Martin and Clutter will die on the Island wearing Isles jerseys. If this trade happened their fanbase would riot.

If:
- this was their last year before retirement they retire;
-you were going to flip the players the Canucks send on for value, or if the Canucks flip them for value and pay you the picks; and
- its the deadline and the Islanders are not looking like they are making the playoffs.

What would be the feelings of doing this to give them a shot a the cup? Most fans are usually on side with that, and I don't think the Islanders hate the Canucks, so would be happy to cheer for us.
