Flyers aren’t taking two cap dumps. They easily decline.

Leafs maybe think about that Vancouver trade if they get rid of garland immediately after but if they can’t they don’t and they definitely don’t do any of the other trades

Canucks decline. No interest in Klingberg, we already have enough offensively minded defencemen.

The idea is to then flip Klingberg and a pick for a defensive defenseman, so that salary retention isn't needed. Guys like Tanev, Pesce, Dumba, Larsson, Murphy all make around what Klingberg makes currently. If you attach a pick to Klingberg the Canucks could run a d-pairings like:

    Hughes - Larsson/Murphy/Tanev/Dumba/Pesce

    Cole - Hronek

    Soucy - Myers

Yeah I figured, I just chose STL because there's been a trade history between the two teams in the past. It could really be any team looking for a mid round pick with some extra cap space.

I think taking one year of Klingberg as acceptable, but not an ideal outcome. Canucks do this if they can't find anything better.

Still doesn’t make sense for Vancouver. All those guys would likely require a 1st+ at minimum, which Vancouver simply isn’t in the market to be giving up especially for pending UFA’s who they likely can’t afford to re-sign.

They also won’t break up the Hughes/Hronek pairing. Hughes has said a number of times that he’s very happy playing with Hronek and he’s one of the best partners he’s ever had. They have great chemistry together and are leading the league in plus minus. The Canucks have something stupid like a 16-1 goal differential with both of them on the ice, breaking up such a dominant pairing makes no sense.
