Krebs down to Roch Olofsson to the PB Clifton suspended

Created by: Boos
Team: 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 28, 2023
Published: Oct. 28, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In a big intra-conference game against a rising team, Krebs and Olofsson both skated three shifts in the third period, all of them in the first 10 minutes. This is despite the fact that Buffalo was down a defenseman (Clifton) and lost their starting goalie to injury.

Faith gone.

What does the match penalty and goalie injury have to do with forward play?

Nothing. It’s not like they’re going to put Krebs on defense. Krebs has been the in between guy all season. He’s been up and down and mainly with Girgensons and Okposo, who looks like he should retire shortly after his 1,000 game. I feel like Krebs is on a similar path to Mittelstadt. We need to be patient and wait for more physical maturity. He won’t be as good as Mittelstadt but I think he can be a plus player as a 4th line center. Best case scenario, the top two lines start to score more, and Krebs can flourish between Peterka and Quinn when he gets healthy. He’s definitely a pass first center in the mold of Mittelstadt. In the short term, our 4th line went from a strength to a black hole in one offseason.

At this point, Olofsson probably wouldn’t even fetch the same trade return as Ed Monix.

Trust. It's not all that difficult to comprehend. You put the players on the ice who you trust to do the job, in any situation.

Meatballs shortened the bench when the bench was already short two players.

They play different positions. That would be like saying McDermott doesn't trust James Cook because Jordan poyer got hurt.

We shortened the bench because it was a tight game and played our best players. Power was double shifting with dahlin etc.

Nonsense

Boos, normally I'm with you, but you lost me here. Clifton and comrie being out doesn't have anything to do with granato shortening his forward bench. Neither Krebs nor olofsson were going to fill in on defense or in net, and Erik Karlsson jokes aside, forwards don't fill in on d. Unless you are Sergei Fedorov, who could do anything he wanted, or Mark pysyk, who was equally forgettable at both.

Does shortening the bench mean more playing time for those on the ice?

Yes.

Does losing a d-man mean more ice time for the d?

Yes.

How does having two less forwards not effect all aspects of the game?

Doesn't matter. Krebs is now in Olofsson territory

1- he’s not “my boy”
2- it happens to A LOT of players at times, very notably Jeff Skinner with us not all that long ago
3- and as we can see with Skinner’s resurgence, getting benched is hardly a “death sentence”

Wow

Are you really comparing a multi 30-goal scoring, top-line player being in the doghouse of the worst coach in Sabres history to Krebs, a bottom-six (at best) player?

Wow. Double Wow!

Take the 'L' and move on gracefully.

Hashtags and caps do not a solid post make, but you do you, Fitz

The situations:
--In nine seasons Skinner averages 30g/82 games for his career including 40 goals his first season in Buffalo before Kruger takes over
--Skinner ends up in coach's doghouse
--During Krueger's infamous tenure Jeff Skinner is second on the team in goals/60 (0.87) behind Skunk (0.96) but ahead of Jack (0.75) for Sabres who played in 50 or more games while he was 5th on the team in EVTOI/game, more than three minutes behind both Sam and Jack

Peyton Krebs
--has 15 points (4+11) in 18 games with the Amerks and 11 assists in 2022 Calder Cup playoffs (4 primary, 7 secondary), plus 22 points (7+15) in 48 Sabres games during 2021-22
--In his first two NHL seasons under Donnie Meatballs who stressed an offense first system (a full 180 from Kruger' defense at all cost approach) Krebs puts up 1.32 Pts/60 which is third worst on the team, ahead of only 'Selke' Asplund (1.16) and Gus (1.03) amongst forwards who played 100 or more games during that time period
--has zero points through nine games this season

Situations
--Skinner benched because of a poor head coach
--Krebs benched because of poor performance

yeah...something, something situations
