Los Angeles management believes that the Kings are just as serious contenders as the Maple Leafs, so they won't be trading Roy for futures . . . and likely, not at all.

Yeah, Anaheim probably takes that at the TDL. Maybe sooner with a bit sweeter offer.

Actually? That management must be delusional then

A 2nd for Kampf is beyond laughable.

I'd be willing to bet that the Kings win their next Cup before the Leafs do.

With their current cores, you are wrong... Now the Kings might rebuild and win with a whole new core... But right now, the Leafs are much much better than the Kings

I assumed the OP just made a mistake and meant to trade a different player. There is no way ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about hockey would think Kampt is getting anything back of value by himself in a trade. He would likely pass waivers without a claim from any team.

Kampf had decent value going into free agency last year. He's not a plug, but a serviceable 3C on a good contract. He's worth a 2nd.

Is this what the Toronto media told you or what you convinced your mind to believe in order to brace yourself for another playoff loss?

This team has bigger problems than Kampf. He's an asset. But the cap being what it is, it doesn't make sense to pay a defensive 3C over 2 million and play him on the fourth line with an enforcer.

Then what makes you think any team would ever pay a 2nd for what you just described?

Some teams don't have a good 3C. And 2 million for such a player for most teams is good value. The Leafs can't afford it.
