I don't understand how a perennial 90+ point guy isn't enough for an unproven defensemen, depth winger, and a 1st round pick but.... ok. How about with some retention

Might give you Vantrano and a B prospect, but that's it.

He's the definition of one dimensional, he has a HORRENDOUS cap hit, a NMC, and is on the back 9 of his career. He's gone before we can really start to use a player of his caliber. As to our "unproved" defenseman, he put up Sanderson numbers his rookie season. Pretty confident he's at least a top 4, maybe a top pair guy at a position of need.

You fail to account for the fact that we will get half the usefulness out of him. We're building to be great in three years time, not just less bad for the next three.

Nobody is trading for Panarin without retention just like how nobody is trading for Huberdeau without retention. Both are good players but undoubtedly overpaid. You want to move Panarin, he gets to choose where and the return will be similar to EK65

Also Panarin has a full NMC and the nearly every team is against the cap, taking on 11M or even more is just completely unreasonable

But the thing is, Anaheim fans value these pieces literally more than the Anaheim front office does. What happened with Zegras is a prime example. And it's even worse with Drysdale. The season starts in less than a week, and nothing. In fact there's that f**kery going on that the FO kept him from being arbitration-eligible. How are you building the team to be "great" in three years time if this is how you are treating the young stars? Not trying to argue I just genuinely don't understand how you can reconcile those things. Zegras is probably going to ask for another short term after this current deal and then leave as soon as he hits UFA.

I agree that Panarin sucks but a 90 point guy is still a 90 point guy. I think with retention he can be of some use to the Ducks, especially if you don't foresee the team making playoffs for a couple years anyways. With retention the cap hit is less of an issue but the Rangers will want a little more from ANA then. And you can always re-sign him to another short term or however long deal for cheaper after the current one is up

Because Panarin's age doesn't make sense to their timeline.

He simply makes no sense given his age. He won't propel them into the playoffs and by the time ANA is ready, he'll be done.

Unfortunately last year the Devils put themselves in the category of being "contenders", your rebuild is over. So Mercer is not currently better than Panarin, thus Panarin is more useful to you right now. Unless you want to end up like the (former) Sabres just endlessly collecting good pieces in theory but never going all in

No, because the Rangers shouldn't be trying to go all-in. Last year showed that the team isn't built for that. I say the Rangers should trade off Panarin, Trocheck, even Zibanejad and Kakko for a bunch of picks and young guys that are still developing. Do an aggressive retool around people like Chytil, Schneider, Fox, probably KAM and Lafreniere and try again in 3ish years

Due to his terrible cap hit and Nuge's amazing cap hit there is zero chance this trade happens.

Also zero chance either player waives

I'm honestly trying to crap over all your trades, but I don't really think you did the math on many of these.

Most of these trades make no sense for the simple reason that he's not moving his NMC unless it's to a true contender, so you can wipe out over half these teams just based on that.

Teams in rebuilds like SJ, AZ, ANA, etc... he simply makes no sense to their timelines, let alone teams he most likely wouldn't waive.

Looking at the Tampa trade, one that works financially... There's no way Tampa will trade a 25 year old top six, cost-controlled winger who just scored 30 goals. Personally, at this point in their careers, I'm taking Hagel over Panarin.

The Pens trade, again, you didn't do any math here. There is literally no way to fit him in just trading for firsts and nobody that makes sense moving him for even if they retained half.

The STL trade for obvious reasons makes no sense.

The TOR trade is probably the only trade that makes SOME sense, but I don't know they'd move a first knowing to keep Nylander they'll wind up having to pay him not too much less than Panarin makes now.

well at the same time you are arguing that the team the finished last last year should trade for him(ducks). not much consistensy.

well at the same time you are arguing that the team the finished last last year should trade for him(ducks). not much consistensy.

Because teams like Anaheim and The Devils are on the up-swing whereas the Rangers are on the down-swing.

Conssidering Panarin has a NMC....he might waive to maybe three teams.

Not everything you read in the tabloids is true, man. People say there's a rift with Zegras? I say if there was, he would have refused to sign and demanded a trade and sat until it happened. He's got three years to develop his defensive game and push himself into a center role and prove he's worth a huge 3rd deal, or accept that he's a winger and take a lesser one. He's also got to clean up his on ice antics. We as fans would have given him an 8x8, doesn't mean any GM would.

There's an "undercurrent" that Drysdale was held out after he was healthy? That's his agents job to push for him to be back off IR if Drysdale feels he's healthy earlier. He wasn't activated off IR until a month after the season finished, if he was healthy to go earlier, why'd it still take that long.

Those who are claiming there's huge rifts in the organization are foil hatters who hope they can get our young pieces on the cheap to add to their organization. Yeah, Verbeek is playing hardball, that's his job. High caliber players hold out on deals and stay with the team, just look at the leafs. Nylander held out until F***ing December. Marner missed the start of camp. Verbeek is setting the precedent that there's no free meal in Anaheim, and he's not going to give the kids their meal tickets until they've earned them. "But what about Killorn and Gudas?" Yeah? What about them? They're paid to be mentors, leaders, teach work ethic, resiliency, grit, etc. They're also short termers, their cap hits won't affect the long term trajectory of the organization.

Just because our GM is doing his job, doesn't mean the front office doesn't value it's assets.

Habs decline, an 11+ million dollar 31 year old winger has no value to us at all.
Canucks also decline; Panarin is too expensive and we already have Miller.

Kakko would be a much more interesting option though; I'd be curious what the price for him would be.

I'm not sure what is more painful? Continuous NMC trades or offersheets!! Both belong in a cf practice section lol

I would say Kakko commands something in the late first/early second round pick range, plus a RW prospect since we are lacking in that department

Flyers might accept cause of the two 1sts. Dallas declines since they already got a load of high priced wingers and need to improve their defense. Otter has also proven to be their starter for years to come so no point in switching for a guy three years older.

Interesting, so would Calgary's 2025 1st + Colorado's 2024 2nd + Ylonen be enough?

Absolutely that would be great for Kakko
