You may want to look at your cap position next summer as well before you target a player who makes more money than Pageau in a trade. My assumption is getting off his salary for an expiring is the primary strategy to not be held hostage by other teams.

Pageau won't waive and the Jets wouldn't be looking to get older and worse if they ever considered trading Ehlers.
