I like it, but at this point I feel like there has to be a Jarkrok trade before the season, no?
If they had gotten Heinen on a league min or PTO would have thought that but since hes in Boston that ship sailed. As if you look at Treelivings past moves one of them was for Jarnkrok and apparently he did want to keep him just couldn't make the money work
Probs will be Timmins moved or Waived along with Gambrell and Jones
Robertson plays full AHL season and they can play with a 20 man team.
Nylander at centre is interesting, but not if its 3rd line centre like we have seen before. He needs to be pushing 18+ mins a night or else his talent is being wasted
Okay agree to disagree but if you have Jarnkrok OR Lafferty and Ti, which would you do???
And why
Leafs dont got to choose between Lafferty and Jarnkrok
Waive Gambrell, Jones, and Timmins. Send down Robertson and they are cap compliant. Would prefer to trade Timmins and get at least a low pick back but if you lose him for nothing via waivers so be it.
And there yah go cap compliant even the training camp roster shows it minus having Robertson on over McMann
Wait no scratch that this could be big brain move as good Centers get more trade value than Wings. Increasing his trade value if they cant get him extended is not a bad play by the Tree

Trading Nylander is a loser mentality. It isn't happening
There is no package that helps us more than Nylander does
Thats not really true
If the Leafs got a similar pkg to what Horvat or PLD did that can easily help them. The best scenerio would be a Tkachuck like trade where they get a top 6 wing and top 4 Dman back but thats gonna be a challenge.
As then you add good pieces some of which you can then flip to add more useful players.
VGK has shown it along with other teams got to sometimes move on to win.
We know Tree is potentially looking for an Eichel like trade and if he can get that for Willy would be over the moon as you can then flip some of the assets to add more.

Nylander is a top 30 forward in the world.
He is also a rental.
There is no Nylander trade that makes us better. Fullstop.
Now the better option is a sign and trade like Tkachuck and PLD but thats gonna be tricky considering his ask of 10m
Still the more the season goes on the more a team may bite the bullet and do it
you really think a Beavillier + Raty + 1st level package in a year where we are in all in on a cup would help us better than a 40 goal 85+ point player? Short of a crazy overpay by a team, no conceivable Nylander trade makes us more competitive today.

Your missing something Van then took the 1st and flipped it for Hronek
So in the end they got a top 4 D, top 9 wing and prospect for Willy
If Tree plays his cards right he goes out and gets a top 4 Dman, top 9 wing and with the prospect then flips him for another player or two.
Like lets say SEA calls Toronto and says we will give you A 1st + Bjorkstrand + Kartye for Willy
Then Tree takes that 1st and Kartye brings in a top 4 RD and useful depth wing
Other teams have traded key guys and won cups VGK last year did it. Toronto cant be in lets keep our rental mindset if there is a chance to trade as if Willy walks for nothing and they dont get out of the second round thats not a good look

ok if we got a 3rd line forward and a 2nd pair D I don't think that helps us. How bout we just trade a pick or prospect for a 2nd pair D and not downgrade so hard up front
If willy walks it sucks but c'est la vie, we have budget to spend in FA now instead. Could get that calibre of player that you're talking about in FA with that money the next year no problem
