Description
Would be a little bit of wishful thinking here for B's fans if they still want to be cup favorites. Otherwise it's also going to make them worry about their future. This whole site is all hypothetical anyway and it would be fun to think about something like this happening. Nashville and Philly will most likely have to sell anyway whether they do it or not though, that's up to them. Vegas has been rumoured to be in trade talks with Boston over Marchessault anyway. Kane said he wanted to play for a contender and this team would be it and this could work if he signs a contract similar to Krejci and Bergeron's in last year's Free Agency.

If you think the Flyers are going to retain $28M on Coots and give you a 1C, I suggest you add 5 or 6 more 1st round picks to the trade going to the flyers lol.

A) You think execs want him in philly when they're not contenders

B) He's signed till he's 37 and they have to pay him more than 53 million over the next 7 years

C) he scored 58 pts in the last 2 seasons with a -10 rating. Not good.

D) injury troubles

E) they're lucky they'd even get one 1st for all that, he's a cap dump at nearly 8 million at his age with that term and he's not performing and gets injured

Your B reason is why we would NEVER do that trade. We don’t want to carry half of his salary till 2037. We want to see what he how he recovers from his injury for a couple years and then potentially trade him for MORE without retained salary.

Danny Briere and Couts were best friends on and off the ice. I would bet Danny B wouldn’t trade one of his roommates.

Please point to me a time in NHL history where someone agreed to retain $28M on a player over 8 years. Ur a Penguins fan so I get ur biased against the Flyers but if you can’t see why this deal is impossible then you should probably do some more research on how trades work in the league. Also if he is a cap dump, why is he a 1C on this team? Never heard of a 1C being cap dumped before either. Looks like you would be able to set multiple NHL precedents, you should be a GM!

I mean they're not contenders so waiting matters very little to them. They're not going to suddenly be competitors with a couturier who's back to form. They need a lot more to go right than that

Don’t bother, a bunch of these Coots trades have popped up today and they are comical. They say he’s a cap dump and is worth nothing then put him at 1C because apparently the second the flyers trade him he’s goes from cap dump to Selke winner lol

Do you know what. I’m gonna answer ever stupid statement you made.

A. We need locker room leaders for the young bucks coming up. He’s a leader.

B. We want to trade him for more after these couple of seasons when he’s healthier and back in a groove.

C. He played a combined 74 games these past two seasons. He was never healthy. He also played just about every minute of the PK. No center has plus when playing that much PK time on a decent team.

D. That’s true. I’ll give you that.

E. How do you know if he’s performing or not? I’d say the two seasons he was in he was performing.
2020. COVID year. 45 games 18 Goals 23 Assists-4 56% Faceoffs

2021. 29 Games 6 Goals 11 Assists -6 55.61% Faceoffs

His last season he played more than 60 games he won the Sleke.

Agreed, which is why it wouldn’t hurt us to hold onto him and see how he performs and trade him for MORE!!!!!!!!

NSH declines and asks you to delete their number. This return is incredibly small to retain nearly 50% of the contract that NSH just signed him to. NSH likely isn't in the business of shipping him out, but if they were, they would be looking for quality over quantity.

To retain this much for that long, and use NSH's last retention spot a 1st would have to be involved.

Doesn't matter if the execs want him or not, he has full control for the next six years with his full NMC and given that he's heen super active with team related events off the ice I don't think he wants to go anywhere else. Plus nobody is willing to retain on a contract for seven more years.

He's clearly not a cap dump on your proposed team if he's playing 1C too.
