Honestly I think both of these deals are awful for the Hawks.
After watching Brodie in the playoffs I think his skill set is diminishing quickly, to pay his ticket this year and extend him for three more would be a huge mistake. Timmins is a waiver wire pickup level player. That means the Hawks are getting Nylander for Jones, who is still a quality # 2, albeit overpaid by about $2m, a retained on Murphy; which at that rate is worth a 1st or high 2nd; and Raddysh a 20 goal scorer on one of the best current contracts in the league who with a repeat performance this year could also be worth a late 1st or early 2nd at the TDL.
Lafferty would just go into the mix with the other 9 guys competing for the bottom six forward positions. To lose a draft pick exchange to acquire him would be horrendous asset management. If the Leafs want to send him to Chicago for FC then perhaps since he was a good fit in the past.
