Everyone entitled to their opinion but the trade proposal you posted seems tough to justify. Leafs give up Nylander - best player in the trade by a wide margin, he would immediately become canes most dangerous offensive player - and you have us adding a 1st🤔.
To fit Skjei and necas we have to dump Brodie; Brodie > Skjei defensively which is what we need given we already have Reilly & Klingberg. We downgrade offensively & defensively and give up a 1st rounder; Just don’t see how this helps the leafs.

You make it sound like Necas sucks . he had 17 points less then Nylander last year and play him with Matthews and Marner and he will outscore Nylander almost guaranteed. Skej is a very strong two way defender who had 38 points, 3 less then Rielly our best offensive D so how on earth could this be worse for us?

Nylander creates offense at an elite level (top 10 league wide, check jfresh twitter feed for offense creators at 5v5); he scored and produced at a much higher rate than necas last year and over their careers - significant downgrade. Skjei is far from a ‘very strong’ two way defender; Brodie is much better defensively & Reilly played 30 less games 🤦🏻, might be one reason their point totals were close last year.

The only stat Brodie had that was good defensively was 111 blocks. quite sad that a 39 year old 3rd pair 800k Giordano had 147 blocks but hey ya Brodie is elite defense you keep telling yourself that. Brodie could not handle 1st pair mins so we replaced him with every defense we had but yup you are correct Brodie is elite. As for Nylander you have to lose the better player to get 2 pieces that will make you better in the long run rather then cry over the 1 player you lost.

He had a tough series vs Panthers but majority of Leafs team did tbf; & your golden boy Sjkei put up demonstrably worse numbers than Brodie did in the playoffs but don’t let facts get in the way of your fantasy 👏

I would love to see these , when I search I see 111 blocks , good but not worth 5M, , replaced as 1st pair defense by Holl, then McCabe , then Liljegren, then Schenn last but not least , a 3rd pair defense played as Rielly partner better then your elite Brodie. for gods sake the only stat holding any defensive value is the 111 blocks but yet a 3rd pair D making 800k had 147 blocks.

He was 2nd in ice time; keefe spread the d out and Brodie / McCabe were the matchup pair. Simply google ‘jfresh tj brodie buyout’; he tweeted out Brodie’s 2022-23 stat card, 100th percentile in even strength defense WAR. Other users have posted cards from other advanced stat sites with same results (I won’t pay so don’t have access). Like I said elite, apology accepted.
