Kaner isn't a good fit for you guys. He's not going to play the #3RW all that well. I love him. I'm a big Hawks fan, but it's the same issue as the NYR last year. Having Tarasenko and Kaner is similar to Kuch and Kaner. Just too many purely offensive minded players.

We need scoring depth we've lost offense the last couple seasons you can put Kane with stammer & Tony the point is Kane generates offense & that's what we need in middle 6

We've got Jack Johnson. Pretty much serves the same purpose as Bogosian. We'll role with what we've got already.

Honestly though, I don’t hate this from a value POV. Keep a roster of two old guys that can alternate games with each other as load management and eat PK minutes. Not the worst outcome, although I’d like a higher upside option.

With a guy like Bogosian, his contract is able to be fully buried in the AHL but I doubt most NHL GMs would do that to a vet guy with as much experience as him.

That's fair. I would honestly rather rotate Hunt with JJ just so we have that offensive-leaning presence as well. To me, having Dermy, JJ and Bogosian just equals three slow dudes.

In my ideal world, a Bogosian (or similar) player means that MacDermid is far far away from the Avs. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone more useless stick in the NHL for so long.

I go back and forth on Dermy. On one hand, you're right, he hardly contributes anything. On the other hand, he can sub in for both forward and D and he rarely makes costly mistakes in small amounts of ice time. I dunno, man.

I’d argue that he’s such a liability on the ice that he’s bad at both positions. Hell, the Avs played Brad Hunt at forward for 41 seconds in the playoffs rather than let MacDermid on the ice. I’d rather have a competent bottom pairing PK guy with some upside. Worst case scenario, you play them at forward if needed. MacDermid playing two positions isn’t a value add when he’s awful at both.

I think the only liability is his lack of speed. I've seen him make good decisions most of the time he's on the ice, he just struggles to keep up with the team. Either way, coaching and management sees something there. I've given up the hope that we get rid of him and have tried to look at the positives lol
