Salary Cap Mode: Basic

Description

Devils need a goalie…that does not mean Hellebuyck, Saros, etc (although they would be nice). It is a depth issue as we have two NHL goalie, but little else. Daws is injured and will be out 6+ months after hip labrum surgery.

NHL1: Vanacek
NHL2: Schmid or new guy
AHL1: Schmid or new guy
AHL2: Kallgren
ECHL1: Poulter (AHL deal)
ECHL2: Broduer (AHL deal)
WHL: Brennan
NCAA: Brady (unsigned)

(Schmid is waiver exempt)

All of the names below are possible waiver claims or maybe small ball trade.

Wolf is no longer waiver exempt and there is no way Calgary would expose him, even in pre-season, so Vladar is probably odd man out.

Detroit signed Lyon and Reimer the same day to NHL deals. Husso has two more years and then Augustine and Cossa are the future. Someone will go to waivers.

FWIW, there's no chance Montreal waives Montembault and very little chance they entertain trading him.

Don't know where you get your info but Wolf is still waivers-exempt and will be for the next few seasons I wager, Stolarz was signed to fill the gap because it seems like Knight will *not* be ready for the beginning of the season as he still hasn't exited the player assistance program.

Yes - My mistake. Not sure why I thought he was up for waivers. But Vladar could still be candidate.

I’d prefer Husso on waivers!

Still possible but highly unlikely. Wolf is still only 22, really young for an NHL goalie, better to not throw him to the wolves (funny pun) on a Calgary team going through a lot of changes.

You did a good job spoting teams with extra goalies, but there's some issues.

Montembeault isnt going anywhere. He confirmed to medias the GM called him after getting DeSmith to reassure him. Better chance with DeSmith (trade) or Primeau (waiver)

Nobody knows what is happening with Knight, so Stolarz avaibility is unsure. He would be the best of the bunch IMO.

Wolf is waivers exempted but has nothing left to prove in the AHL. Vladar is available, but CGY might wait for the right price since the market is slim.

DET signed Lyon on July 1st, just after Reimer. Their fanbase seems to think Reimer will be the one waived. Sending down the highest paid could be a strategy for Yzerman to not have a player claimed
