Nylander is great.

But two problems.

Rangers cap situation and Nylander isn't worth their only young middle six center.

Rangers pass. Swap Chytil for Schneider, give Nylander an extension and you're closer.

So two third line guys for a top line 40 goal player? If you were the Leafs would you seriously consider that?

There has to be some thought to this that it would be a one year deal. NEITHER team should make this deal in the end. Does that satisfy you?

If I'm any team I would not trade for Nylander without an extension agreed in advance. Now having said that he's a top line winger on any team so his value would be a little more than those two guys. I'm hopeful that the Leafs sign him but if they can't I would have higher expectations in a trade. Maybe K-Andre Miller and Laf? Not even sure if that's the right deal.

I think you'd have to look at a team like CHI or anyone that wants to jump out of a rebuild as they are more likely to have room than a team that is already at the cap.

This really makes no sense for either team. Nylander I can see resigning but you have to figure out your cap situation. Leafs on the other hand do get a younger winger but he’s proved he’s not top 6 ready. Chytil I do like and maybe you put him on the 2C and move JT to wing? I’d rather keep the much better player that performs the playoffs

I think the Leaf's get 2 players that can help them now. Chytil is about to breakout and I see him as someone who could push JT for the 2c. Lafrenière just needs a change of senary

Is it the best value maybe not but it does help their cap situation and brings in 2 possible top 6 forwards

I do get where you’re coming from. It’s not a bad idea but I just don’t think it works. Laf was a 1st overall pick that in hindsight maybe shouldn’t have been. Rangers put Laf with Zib and it didn’t really go well. Laf will be a good player but I don’t see him as a top 6 but he’s a RFA and I have no idea what his value is. Chytil I already said I wouldn’t mind seeing him as a 2C to see if he can hang. I like him a lot and he always kills the Leafs. With all that said Leafs and Rangers are both in win now mode so making a trade like this doesn’t really make sense for either team.
