To be coy with you. None of these make much sense for the canes. Yes they're looking for a top center and offensive help. No connor brown and pageau are not that. They got their starter when they signed darling so Mrazek makes no sense. That defense is stacked. So streit is completely unnecessary. And a rebuild is the exact opposite what the canes need. They have done an outstanding job collecting top end defensman. Went out and got their starting goalie. And now just need a minor tweak to the offense to make them a very serious contender.

Leafs aren't trading a 20 goal scorer for a backup. There are lot of other goalies available for free. Mrazek hardly an improvement to the Canes. Canes don't need cap help with the injured Franzen. Canes really don't need help on defence. With better goaltending last year, they would have been in a playoff run. Maybe Darling provides the difference.

I don't know enough about the east to comment on all of this, but that Mrazek trade is one sided. I don't know why CAR would do it. Mrazek is really out of favour.

I am pretty sure the canes are going to play Darling as their starter so the Mrazek trade is unnecessary

Try to explain the fact that Brown is very good to hotNreadyWings.

Well what would you do instead? Bet not much better. Plus the fact that I am a Canadiens fan not a Hurricanes fan.

Mrazek gives less of the workload and provides a possible trade candidate for once the Canes and want a good player. Also Mrazek could be their Starter when they start to get good if Nedeljkovic turns out to be not as good as they hoped.

The Red Wings can prepare for their rebuild by shipping off a big contract and a bad starter or (Very) good backup in exchange for a good backup and two decent prospects.

Pageau is a Top Center and Brown is a 20 goal scorer. I signed Streit because he is a great signing if you have almost $11 million in cap space and not many top end players like Thornton, Hanzal, or Radulov want to join a rebuilding team. Also sure Darling can be a starter for a year or two but then what you have a backup as your starter that's where Mrazek comes in (Nedeljkovic will need more than 2 years to become a starter).
