How do you figure? Looks like they swap very similar salaries with CBJ actually retaining some of Tarasov’s.

Not sure of the logic from the Jackets’ point of view. Thompson has a track record of less than 60 games and no pedigree (undrafted); isn’t it fair to assume there’s at least a 50/50 chance his stats are a product of the team playing in front of him. After all, a rotating carousel of unheralded netminders put up gaudy numbers for VGK this past season. Is that really worth giving up a first round pick, especially if it does nothing to alleviate the cap hit albatross the other CBJ G carries?

Thompson is simply better than Tarasov. And also I don't see the Jackets trading a 1st for him either.

OK, maybe and maybe not since neither has really played enough to tell, but let’s assume you’re right. What does that have to do with Vegas not accepting “for cap reasons alone?”
