Using Average Career Call-Ups

Description
On average the NHL career is 4.5 years long. 25% last 12 years but the other 75 last 2 years to make it up.

So, this works out to about 5 new players a year. On year 5 60% (3 players) remain and 6 years in none remain. In practice there is a lot more turnover after 2 years and a select few last a lot longer but that doesn't really matter to the average.

This means the 23 man roster there needs to exist 5 players that weren't last year. For this exercise Meier and Lazar won't count toward those 5 because they were somewhere. But Luke Hughes and Schmid WILL count because they weren't on the 23 man roster in the beginning of the season.

----------------------

Rules :

1. 5 players that weren't on the roster at the start of last season on the 23 man roster.

2. Meier and Lazar don't count. Schmid and Hughes do.

----------------------

-
- Assuming Bahl at 2x1, I think this is reasonably on the high end since they have the leverage with the 787,500 QO

- assuming Schmid on the roster as 1B

- Hughes, Holtz, Foote round out the roster with Thompson slotted in as a scratch. So 5 players on the 25.

- Clarke exists as a call up or to replace 1 of the three forwards if they don't make it.

Issue I see with this one is forward depth. Essentially 3/4 have to hit. I guess worst case Phil Kessel will probably still be around.

I think it still makes more sense to try to get a 3rd line quality right wing now. Worst case scenario all the players perform and we lose Curtis Lazar on waivers to Utica. Oh no, we have a third line quality guy on our 4th and Nate Bastian as a healthy scratch. In fact, next time I make one of these that may be what I do.

----------------------

Side note: Also, in general I try to err on the side of conservative. Any trades or signings it is going to be on the higher side. Or else why not just trade for Draisatl 50% retained for future considerations and Edmonton giving the Arizona a 1st and a prospect so they retain 25%

This is pretty much what it'll be, take out any slight arguments of actual roster construction like "Toffoli should be with Jack" and such.

Rolling into the year with $2m in cap room, which should grow in value by the deadline is a huge jump on those running on LTIR space.

I actually don't know how they flipped. I put Mercer with Hischier and Meier to start. Fixed it now.

I was more sure of that then Bratt and Meier. I kept Meier with Hischier because of the swiss cheese but if anything flipped in the top 6 that is where I think it is most likely.

I like Hughes with Mercer and Meier

I think either combo works tbh

Until Hughes learns to wins faceoffs Mercer, Haula, or Mcleod should be on his wing to take them for him.
