i may be an outlier in this but, i really like this contract. i feel like Engvall is going to continue to progress into a solid forward and NYI has a fairly decent team. he'll slot anywhere in the bottom 6 and be a consistent presence as a forward. 3M is easy to flip, no matter the term. like Engvall and like the signing a lot.

Lou has dementia. He is unfit to be general manager anymore.

Nawh, he just doesn't care about the long term contracts cause he's likely to be gone by then.

A bottom 6 forward, with mediocre offensive upside, for long term may be the most Lou thing there is

Ouch! Rivalry apart, poor Islanders fans...they'll be stuck with many players for so many years. If a player want stability in his career, go plays to Lou in the Islanders. Even if you're just a decent player, you'll get 7 or 8 years contract.

Engvall proved to be a great fit for the Islanders' mid-6 and honestly, he's been more impactful for them than Horvat. I would've stuck to 3-4 years if I was Lou but I really don't think this contract is nearly as bad for them as some are saying on this thread.

Engvall for 7 years at too much money and with an NTC.

I'm not sure I could've made that up by dropping acid.

7 years tears of joy

I guess it could be good with the cap expected to rise.

Very good 4th liner. Why on earth is he getting 7 years as a 4th liner? Terrible contract because of the term.

3rd liner**

It's not? since when?

13:08 with the Leafs.
15:16 with the Isles.

35 points / 15 goals last year.
30 points / 17 goals this year.

Pierre Engvall is not a 4th liner

Engvall for 7 years
Varlamov for 4 years
Lou is crazy

$9,200,000 x 8 years for Barzal (fine)
$8,300,000 x 8 years for Sorokin (fine)
$8,500,000 x 8 years for Horvat (dang)
$3,500,000 x 7 years for Mayfield (why)
$3,000,000 x 7 years for Engvall (why)
$2,800,000 x 4 years for Varlamov (why)
$5,000,000 x 8 years for Wahlstrom (probs)

This has to be the worst signing of free agency, bar none. And that's in a year with no shortage of overpaid 3rd pair defenseman.

Well the cap is going up. I can say, ya know, if Varlamov is healthy he is a good back up. He prob has a good relationship with Sorokin.

But yeah, isn't Mayfield a good bottom 4 defenseman?

That proposed Walhstrom deal is hilarious though I will say that.

Mmm the Jarry, Korpisalo, and Severson deals all seem too long and expensive too. Remember this is the Islanders we're talking about. They love bottom 6 continuity.

if engvall had the tenacity to hit he'd be making 5 million

liked him in toronto but he did leave a lot to be desired. 3 million the price is fine but 7 years is such a weird term.
