The signing took place on July 1st.

The day in question took place on July 9th.

The Coyotes could not have predicted this.

Fortunately, they were able to terminate this signing like they were aborting from a top secret mission.

Any criticism of this signing amounts to hindsight bias.

This is a good signing.

I hear he’s gone into the player assistance program. That’s great – I hope he gets the help he needs – but I was a little bit surprised to find that he’s eligible when he’s out of the NHL. I guess they would consider a free agent who hasn't signed yet to be still an NHL player on the assumption that he will sign eventually, so they'd have to give Galchenyuk the benefit of a doubt in that respect, but it makes me wonder, how long do you have to be out of the NHL before you're no longer considered a player who could go into the player assistance program. Does anybody know what the eligibility criteria are?
